Idk Palm Dreams and Displacement sound like a pretty natural progression from ISB so I'd think you'd like it. Assuming you haven't heard the whole thing. @SpyKi
I've heard it but not since the year it was released. I listened to it like 4/5 times and thought it was solid but it didn't really make that much of an impression. These grab me straight away. I'll probably go back to ISB if I get super into the new one.
Pianos is an amazing band. Keep You and The Lack Long After are two of my all time favorites. LD and Touche have both been getting better with each release too, imo. Also, Defeater is cool. I also wasn't into them that much before until Abandoned came out and I read up on the story and realized how dark it is.
Nothing LD or touché has done to this point holds a candle to Hiding. But I have my hopes up for the julien baker track on this one.
I think my biggest gripe with abandoned is that the priests storyline just doesn't seem like it needs a full album to tell. Like it could've been achieved to a higher degree had they made it an ep or something. I, like many others, was expected an album from the mothers view so I was also a bit disappointed on that front.
I won't rank them all I'll just say keep you is far and away the best album this scene has seen in an extremely long time and I'm continuously shocked people don't see that
bummed at the vega and altair hate. i love that album. came out during a super vulnerable/emotional time in my life and just wrecked me unlike anything else ever has. i don't go back to it much and i think it gets shit on alot cause of the darling shit but fuck it's a beautiful album.
I can't fathom liking it more than Wildlife, haha. I think every song on Wildlife is better than any song on there.
Not sure why I wasn't subbed to this thread, but based on the two singles this album is going to be really special.
im going to agree with those that have said Keep You is the best album from the wave bands. I think Wildlife is one of the most well written / immersive albums I've ever heard, but due to what was going on for me at the time of its release and how much I latched onto it, I rarely listen to it now. It just brings back too much that I want to forget. Which is a shame, because I really do think it is a genius piece of art.
Also let us not forget how good "The Lack Long After" is. Keep You is only a small small notch ahead of that record for me. Both beautiful in their own right.
man... these new Touche songs are so good. Theyre already my favorite things ive heard from this band, im really excited for this record. And i cannot wait to hear the track with Julien Baker.
