Loving this on my second listen. I enjoy the first 5 tracks, but starting from "Altitude" through the end this thing just soars.
this could be my favorite thing they’ve done yet but I honestly am way overdue for a discog run. pretty much all their records aside from Lament I only listened to once or twice on release and never really came back to them. even Lament I haven’t revisited since not long after its release but I did listen to it a ton at the time. that and this one are easily the ones that have clicked most with me as of now tho.
yeah i gotta revisit a few albums that i haven't listened to in a while, this one is very good on initial listen, gonna give it a couple days before I come back (if for no other reason than I've got so many records to catch up on)
Holy fuck, Altitude is the best song ever. the rest of the album is great too. But Altitude is the one.
This is soooo good man. I think the evolutionary gap between Stage Four and Lament is much larger than the one between Lament and this, but this certainly still feels like an advancement - more refined and encapsulating of their career as a whole. Going back to Ross Robinson was a fantastic choice, the way he captures this band is so authentic. It’s like listening to the best produced live concert album you’ve ever heard
i really like force of habit — it reminds me of terrible love. “it takes patience to break” :: “it takes an ocean not to break”
This has such a cool mix of parting thru lament. Enjoying it a lot also love that I havent heard half of it before it came out. :)
Going to dive into this tonight while doing some more hurricane clean up, but I’m so stoked to see them at FEST in Gainesville. Two sets!
Ross is truly one of my favorites to ever do it tbh. I am very glad they went with him again. between his work on the first two Korn records, the first two Glassjaw records, and Relationship of Command (among plenty of others including the TA records) he has captured some of the most captivating and visceral performances I have ever heard in studio recordings.
besides the hidden track on Adrenaline, he did do a demo cassette of two other Adrenaline tracks, and honestly they whip lol. would have been awesome to get a full record from them with him behind the boards tho, although I imagine at this stage in their career it probably wouldn’t work for them.
Immediate reaction is that this tops Is Survived By as their best for me. A lot of it feels like a return to what I initially liked them for.
Yeah i love this. This is first start to finish album of theirs that I'm really into. Where do I go from here?
my vote is go backwards from here, this to me is really a refinement of what they were doing on Lament so that feels like a natural next step imo
