First impressions: good obviously, really good. I still think deflector is the best track on here though. I also kind of wish I hadn't already heard Reminders, Host, and Limelight. But that's my fault. Only part I'm not sold on is the intro to A Forecast. I feel like TA's already done the whole "meta" album talk (notably on Is Survived By) so it feels like a trick I've seen before. I can appreciate the GOP lines though. Not prepared to rank this in the canon yet.
Love this on first listen. The guitar in the second track reminds me of Follows by Tigers Jaw so much (which is no bad thing at all!). I think this will get more replayability out of me than Stage Four - it's just such an emotioanlly heavy record.
but you can't skip until the :30 mark so you hear him scream "a-pa-thy." The lower resonation on "thy" is soooooo unsettling and good.
I really love Is Survived By but I definitely return to it the least. I actually think I probably agree with Jeremys ranking and this might honestly edge out Stage Four but we'll see
I can see this being my AOTY and possibly even topping Stage Four eventually. I’m loving the record more on every listen.
Who’s listening to this on Apple Music? I feel like the mix in the leak sounds better and louder than the official release on AM?
this record is nostalgic as hell, reminds me of Colorado winters driving around in my shitty car blasting my speakers out to their old stuff. Also the beginning of Savoring is fire
I wanna listen to this again before I weigh in with anything besides “it’s v good” but I can say with utmost certainty this is the most anything they’ve done has immediately resonated with me and I expect it to stick with me.
i've always been lukewarm on this band and i'm kinda 50/50 on my first listen but yeah... a forecast is the best song they've ever written.
Anyone know when the other pressings are being shipped? I saw a lot of people getting their deluxe packaging but I preordered the black/aqua/gold and I’m just anxious to get it and play it loud haha
