just wanted to say thank you for pointing this out. A deeper dive into their lyrics and paying attention, I won’t listen anymore. I was ignorant and lazy in my belief system. Very disappointed.

Never heard of this guy, but I'm old so that doesn't really mean anything.

Based on all the comments seems like this is an interesting choice though!

I’m a Christian so you give a meme with that look. If I did that to a transgender person you’d have my throat. For such a welcoming community you’re so judgmental to people with differing views. Whatever I’m over it. Officially my last post so say what you will I’m moving on….

as a fellow christian, if you gave that look to a trans person, you'd be wrong anyway because that is not loving your neighbor as yourself.

Well yeah because trans people as a group are oppressed throughout the country and are targeted through public policy with the objective goal of making their lives worse, and perhaps most importantly they're born that way, they don't have the option or choice of believing differently. Christians, on the other hand...

And look, I'm not some militant atheist, I'm cool with people believing what they want, even if you want to believe in demons. I mean I find that quite weird, but hey, okay. But what I will poke a little fun at is the belief that these musicians are "demonic" in any way. Like, they're singing about the human experience. They're not trying to actually turn anyone into...idk, followers of satan? Like even Matt Skiba has been pretty open about the fact that he never took any of the "satanist" stuff seriously and just thought it was an interesting religion/philosophy to read about and etc. I get it, you have your Christian beliefs, but I think it's a bit weird to say you can't listen to Alkaline Trio anymore because they've sung songs at times about sinning and have referenced satan and etc lol.

Annnnd yeah okay I am def making at least a little bit of fun that you got this far in your musical journey having listened to Alkaline Trio and not picked up on any of the lyrics lol. It was a bit of a shock to see you say you were an Alk3 fan but then said you didn't listen to Lada Gaga because she's "demonic".

it wasn't. he tried to argue with me that christians are supposed to call out trans people for sinning and i replied that being trans isn't a sin and both posts got deleted lmao.

If we’re being logically consistent, everyone operates with some level of belief system or bias. Muslims, Christians, trans ideologies, everyone has convictions that, from the outside, can look just as irrational to someone else. That’s the point: when you dismiss someone else’s view as absurd while holding your own unquestioned, you’re proving the same bias you’re criticizing. That’s the inconsistency this post highlights.
Now, back to the drummer if he plays well, that’s what matters. I don’t care about theatrics or image beyond the music. And on the “demon” angle: I don’t think Matt Skiba is anything supernatural, I think he’s a quirky, artistic personality, and that shows in his work. His life and persona are public; people can take that however they want.
Jason since this is really directed at you there’s a pattern here. If someone offers a take that even slightly disagrees, it either gets deleted or dogpiled. You’ve done it before, including to me. That’s not discussion that’s curation of agreement.
To be fair, I can be just as sharp. But there’s a difference between being direct and being dismissive. At this stage in life, I have very little tolerance for performative outrage or virtue signaling and this platform leans heavily into both, which I understand is part of the brand.
That said, this is still your product. There’s a balance between having a voice and alienating your own audience. You’ve built a loyal niche, but it’s not immune to erosion. When engagement drops and conversations narrow, that’s usually not random.
The point is simple; People who take the time to engage are the reason the platform exists at all. You can be as snarky as you want but if every disagreement gets treated like a problem instead of a conversation, eventually people just stop showing up

    Might be Spider-Man...

You do know this website is dedicated to grand mistress witch Gaga right ?

It's a "chorus" to her spells

  14. Maybe you get dogpiled on because you say things like "virtue signaling" with a straight face? Just my guess, since I have no idea what you're talking about.

But, I dunno, your posts speak for themselves and after having done this for ... 30 years .. I think maybe I'm better at deciding what my website is, and what I want it to be, than you.

Someone seriously considers some forms of rock music "demonic" in the year 2026?

You’re right it’s your site. Control was never the question.

You’re proving the exact dynamic I named.

You opened by saying my phrasing/tone/vibe disqualified the point before it could be heard. Then instead of quoting the actual claim and showing where the logic/evidence fails you leaned again on experience + labeling (“I’ve seen this move before”, implied bad faith) as sufficient reason to set it aside.

I’m only going post because someone brought a private message public (to which I didn’t delete btw lol). My point was, as a Christian if my best friend was cheating on his wife I’d call him out for his sin. The same way I’d tell someone who is gay (or trans) I believe it’s sin. I’d drop it after that. And to the contrary of this community I would strongly disagree that it’s hate. I would do it out of my Christian love for them. I would not degrade them, make fun of them or think I’m better. In fact, as a Christian we are ALL in need of a Savior and you don’t have to believe that. Not every Christian is an asshole. But to the “Christian” that shared my private message, everything about the way you carried yourself speaks more about you than me.

To the person mocking me cuz I never really knew what alkaline trio was about…yes shame on me I like the music and never really paid attention to lyrics.

now my final point that will piss off a lot of people but I don’t care. Communities like this is no different than MAGA sometimes. It’s cultish, unforgiving, judgemental of people with opposing views. It’s time to stop being so pushed to the left and the right. Humans have more in common than what we’re told. The elites, want us divided. I’ll get mocked but the truth is this should get more support than hate. But it won’t and I guess I have to be fine with that. If the Epstein files could teach us anything, there’s an evil side to this world but that also means there’s good. And if that’s not God to you I don’t judge you. It’s time to get along regardless and stop giving these elites what they want - Separation and hatred. If anyone wants to chat send me a pm. I only publicly commented again because of what I said in the beginning. Now go ahead and mock away, but if I opened one persons eyes that makes me happy.

Not everyone wants to be saved, man. If heaven exists but I don't get in because I don't believe but some of the 'Christians' I've met through my life do, it's not a party I want to be a part of anyway.

You truly think there a single gay or trans person out there that hasn't been told they're sinners already? How do you think you're helping?

I don’t know if it’s intended, but made me chuckle as Matt was had a band called the Heavens, and has the song called “hell yes” with the trio.
