Seeing Maverick on Saturday and watched the original last night since it’s been about 15 years. I love some 80s cheese, but that movie takes itself so serious and it misses the part about being fun. I truly did not like it.

 

I watched the original a few weeks ago for the first time, and I totally agree. Wayyyyy too cheesy for me.

 

Reviews are so strong

 

Seeing this thursday at 4:15 at my local small theater for only $7 and the best popcorn in town. All around win.

 

It's an 80s action movie...the genre was built on cheese.

 

10/10. No notes.

What if you're eh with the first?

 

It 100% hinges on how you feel about Maverick. The set pieces are jaw dropping, but the emotional core is pretty great, too. It has a fair amount of cheese, but it’s supposed to. It doesn’t forget to be fun, but you also can’t look away. Idk. It’s better than the original, probably, but it can’t exist without it.

Holy shit this was great in 4DX. What a movie. I'd love to see a making-of feature for it.

 

Toto doing Danger Zone would be incredible

 

This made me more hyped.

 

If Vincent Lindon respects film he'll tear up the Cannes rulebook and give this the Palm holy fucking shit was this good, literally give Hollywood to Tom Cruise

 

Just got out of the theater. Best movie of the year so far and it’s not even close.

 

This absolutely fucking ruled! Tom Cruise personally thanked us for coming to the theater before hand (on screen, I’m in lake wales, florida. Cruise has never been here haha).

I’ll post more thoughts later, but you all better go see this in a theater. It’s a fucking ride.

 

Okay, so, I’ll still go into more later, but I just want to say first… the shot into the vent isn’t thatimpressive. It was 3 meters. Luke Skywalker hit a target of only 2 meters. Maverick is a wanna be.

 

I’ll just go fuck myself.
