AEnima/Lateralus era Tool > APC (though not by a lot) But I have a pretty good feeling that 2017 APC > 201? Tool Anyway, acting like APC is vastly and unquestionably inferior does a disservice to Billy's incredible songwriting talent. Mer de Noms is such a creative, diverse, impressive record in its own right. (Not that I love TTS any less, but it might be a touch less unique).
This is basically where I stand too. I fully expect to enjoy new APC more than any new Tool music we may or may not eventually get.
This is exactly how I feel, I'm lucky enough to have seen them a few times over the years but god damn 2006 is a long time ago now.
I ended up watching this after the new APC video autoplayed after it finished earlier and it's made me insanely jealous of everyone who's managed to see them recently. Ignore the title it's fan made from footage but the quality is pretty high throughout.

don't know if this is worth posting but here you go. Exclusive: Danny Carey Reveals When the Next Tool Album Will Finally Come Out! | MetalSucks
Contradicting yourself in one sentence. All bets are off after a new Glassjaw album. I'm getting my hopes up.
Let’s hope. I remember that story from I believe early this year which said Tool was negotiating with streaming services to potentially put their old music up when the new album drops... That always struck me as an odd thing to negotiate unless you’re at least seriously planning to release something this decade lol
