I wasn’t a fan of the new one, but it doesn’t take a genius to look at the international market and see it did just as well as the Jolie movies overseas.
The first one's just okay, so if its sequel is just okay too, then I'm okay with that. I love Alicia in this role. But yeah, as I said earlier, I worry about how there's no mysticism in the films.
Ben Wheatley is an interesting choice. I can't imagine his more R-rated sensibilities will translate over to this.
This was removed from the release calendar after the pandemic hit, & now there's been a change in director. So, clearly the pandemic shuffling didn't work out for everyone's schedules or something. Which, assuming that's what happened, even if the last version would've been good, I'm all for the new filmmaker getting to make this her own to at least some extent. Especially since I've heard some good things about Lovecraft Country.
Yeah I’m fine with her writing it too. I’m just surprised they’re apparently writing a new script when they were close to shooting it last year.
I mean, to be fair, we don’t know what the other script looked like or how much of it she’ll use for hers. Wouldn’t be surprised if, like, certain locations & characters & set pieces or whatever carried over, lol.
I'm playing through Shadow of the Tomb Raider right now and I hope this movie deals with how shitty of a person she is for doing her job lol.
The first film adapted the main story from the 2013 game so it make some wonder if this film will adapt stuff from Rise of the Tomb Raider. I enjoyed the story and world in that game so I’d be fine with that.
Bummer, I liked Vikander in the role, the movie was okay. Was hoping the second one would step it up. Oh well.
