Titanic - HAGEN (September 5, 2025)

Titanic is the Mexico City-based duo of the Guatemalan experimental composer and cellist Mabe Fratti and the Venezuelan guitarist Héctor Tosta (aka I la Católica). Their first album Vidrio was extremely well-received, BNM on Pitchfork, and one of my personal favorite albums of 2023–and Mabe Fratti’s recent solo album was one of my favorites from last year as well.

This new album HAGEN is transcendent. Hard to describe but absolutely one of the best of the year so far. Hope this thread reels in some more listeners.

I remember loving Vidrio but I haven’t listened in a long time. Thanks for bringing this new one to my attention! I’ll throw it on tonight.

 

Listened to it a couple of days ago, was bloody great. Think I prefer Mabe’s solo album from last year, but this is still great.

 

Hard to rank em as I’ve loved everything Mabe has done thus far. It’s so great we’re on track for something new from her every year

it's very good, very cinematic. maybe a bit subtler / more introspective than this one

yeah, agreed, it's great. loving the fact that it approaches stuff like magdalena bay while still remaining firmly experimental.
