I was ready to walk out in the first half hour but then it takes a very extreme tonal shift that ends up making the whole thing worth it.
Saw this yesterday knowing only “the thing” about it and it was so much more than I expected. Really unexpectedly heartwarming, bonkers in the best way, I loved it.
Currently my film of the year. I’m sure it will be knocked down by some of the other cool looking movies coming out later this year but for now this is my favorite
I think the only thing I can possibly say right now is holy shit. But wow. Julia Ducournau is the future.
Gonna try to go tonight since I can't go tomorrow and it's probably gonna drop from theaters here too once Bond comes out.
Just finished this. Loved it. Reminded me of Climax and obviously Crash/Videodrome. Also Denis’ High Life.
I will say. My one nitpick I was kind of hoping the final scene would flip away from the surrealism that dominated the film to realism. When he decided to not run, I wanted blood instead of oil, a baby without a titanium spine. I felt like this would have hit me harder.
wow this was so beautiful and so heartbreaking and so strange from the very jump I absolutely loved it
