It’s honestly my favorite sandwich chain. Always thought it was high quality compared to other chains and had a lot of great customization options. Although it seemed like they were narrowing down the options the last time I went which kind of sucks. Sadly it seems like they’re going the way of the dodo though. A lot of them near me have closed. The one I used to work at no longer exists (and ironically, got replaced by a Jersey Mikes)
No chain sub shop can beat grabbing a good steak and cheese, meatball, or chicken parm sub from your best local pizza establishment
My first job was at a casino and it was on the reservation and you really had to win over the elders because they were very set in their ways, especially when it came to gambling rituals. And I guess technically, I'm a public servant and have been so for a long time. But I also volunteer in a customer service capacity at a bookstore and last week a woman got upset at me because I wouldn't let her throw her dog's poop in our indoor trash can
Starbucks was the worst. It was a mall location so most of the customers were either high school students getting Frappuccino’s or other mall employees, so neither great tippers. I’d make way more in tips filling in at the stand alone store literally in the mall parking lot. Barnes & Noble, F21, and the apartments were fun because I’d just be stoned the whole time and had friends I worked with. But the apartment complex was simultaneously the most fun but had to deal with the absolute worst people. My bestie from childhood got me the job there, so we would handle the phones and do paperwork stuff for a huge 700 unit property. The things people would call to complain about… Neighbor above walks too loud, lots of sex noise complaints, we’d get asked to catch snakes and lizards that got through their door (was in Florida at the time), water pressure being too low, water pressure being too high, lights being too dim, mold paranoia (which in hindsight was probably valid but all we could do is take the maintenance request)… had one lady call us because she locked her toddler in the car and needed help breaking the window but we were like “uhhhh we’re gonna call the FD and police for this one” to which she begged us not to because she “didn’t want to lose custody again” … the woman found the extra set of keys and all was fine but we still reported it to the Orange County Sheriff. I learned from that job that people will literally tell you their whole life story because there are a lot of lonely people out there. Anyways…………
I worked exclusively in restaurants and retail from age 16 to about 30. Thankfully that's behind me (hopefully forever)
I will say, having ADHD, I felt like the high paced environment and multi tasking actually fit me well and I excelled in restaurants specifically but the long hours, nights and weekends, and especially dealing with the public made me want out.
Tbh working for the tribe was one of the best gigs I've had. Loved it. I got treaty day off and they gave you a paid day off for your birthday. They gave us annual bonuses which increased depending on how long you'd been there. They often had giveaways to concerts and stuff for employees. And they had free employee meals for us each shift. Wish my current job was that nice to me lol
That my two three day weekends in a row for the holidays is about to come to an end. That school comes back into session on Monday so my morning 7am bus commute is gonna be packed with teens again.
I honestly always found Which Wich to be incredibly overwhelming - on more than one ocassion I had to start over with a new bag because I changed my mind halfway through. You either have to go there with a specific craving or just be really good at making game time decisions
Our trash compactor breaking because moron neighbors were throwing away Christmas trees, mattresses, and other furniture into it when it's meant for household trash only, and now leasing is threatening to fine anyone who doesn't keep their trash in their units until repairs are complete
15 years on the phones conducting/facilitating market research surveys for Nielsen. The first 10 years or so doing cold calling pushing paper TV sweeps week surveys on people. Finished out my time there doing more customer servicey/tech support stuff for people doing long term TV meter studies. I have been cursed out more times than other people will be in several lifetimes. I have been threatened to be murdered multiple times. I work now as part of a two person customer service department for a small company and it's much more chill.
Sometimes I think about how FICO credit scores were not a thing before the year I was born and get really mad lol. Feel so bad for people who turned 18 that year
I complain about this frequently but when small businesses seem to purposely leave off pertinent info. I follow some on insta. Several were advertising their rosca de reyes. Amazing. How much does it cost?? Several people in the comments were asking with no replies from the business. One business said to get your orders in ASAP before they sell out with no info on how to preorder. I guess I should've known to call it in when there was nothing on their website. But like bro. And these aren't like your abuela doing her best at the internet. These are solid social media branded businesses And not just with this obv but similar things. If you don't include the price I'm assuming it's very expensive. If I have to play 4d chess to figure out how to order from you I'm not going to. If I can't find your business hours I'm likely not going out of my way to your business cause I've been burned too many times making special trips to places that are closed Like let me support you! Don't make it so difficult!
The dread when your partner has a cold/flu and you are then just waiting to see if you get sick. (And also the concern for your partner, obviously)
