If I got it in 3 I'd text her. Big day for sperm! - whale emoji and receive a flurry of devil emojis in return.
She would protest that chubs isnt even a word and get even more upset when I would use it in a sentence but nothing compared to the dismay she experienced during the time when we where watching her favourite British quiz show The Chase and her beloved host Bradley read out the question during the final chase "What kind of animal is a chub?"

Was told yesterday afternoon that campus would be closed Monday and Tuesday, was told this evening that they should be treated as remote workdays. There goes two days off. I don't even have my work laptop at home with me and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

 

can you even do any work?

 

Basically, I have access to my email, any files shared with me via email, and very limited access to Teams via my phone. I don't have access to anything saved directly to my work laptop or any of the university's network drives. I emailed my supervisors and they were both as surprised as I was, basically said they don't expect much engagement and to just do what I can. I don't even have my notes with me regarding the things I'm working on, and fortunately, I don't have any meetings scheduled, so I think I'm mostly going to be answering emails and taking notes on what needs done when we get back on campus.

 

The new iPhone update is fucking with my Safari app. I’ll be using it and at random, the screen will just go black. If I open a new tab, the new tab will also just go black and I can’t do/see anything. I have to reboot the app completely and it’ll work again just fine.

Anyone else encounter this?

I am officially over being a homeowner!! Everything that can go wrong will go wrong and always at the worst time!

 

Tell me about it. Our furnace went out in the middle of the worst snowstorm in seven years lol. We can't get a new furnace delivered and installed until we somehow get rid of the three feet of snow in our road.

 

That’s awful!! I’m so sorry! My furnace is over 30 years old and this year it is so loud and making weird noises so I’m just crossing my fingers it makes it through the winter. I was saving money up for it but it all went to car repairs and now I have a leak I gotta deal with. Truly can never get ahead!

We are only allowed to carry 40 hours of pto over to the next year. I’m taking 4 days off over Xmas so I don’t lose any. My boss just called me and told me our fiscal year ends the 15th not the 31st so I’m going to lose half my pto now unless I take next week off instead. There goes all my plans!! I have enough to cover Xmas eve and Xmas too but really not what I wanted to do!

 

People who treat always being busy as a badge of honor

 

This. Especially when you know what their job is. It's like, take it easy, you're either acting self-important or being exploited, it's not noble.

Sorry, now I'm just ranting about my best friend. He changes careers every 5 years like clockwork and that becomes his whole personality and can't possibly take any time off to get together no matter how much lead time you give, it's always the busiest time. Even if I just casually text him not expecting any timely response, it's "can't talk right now I'm going into work" or "sorry I just got off". Like yeah, we're all adults with full-time+ jobs, if I text I just expect a response whenever is convenient, you don't have to take that as an opportunity to make yourself look busy all the time.

 

What state do you live in? Can you ask to get paid out on that paycheck?

After being unable to get an appointment with them this year, my wife discovered this week that our PCP basically semi-retired and now teaches at a medical school. They still practice, but only once a week.

On one hand, good for them! Bring a professor sounds like a solid job. On the other hand, now I have to look for a new PCP…

 

Mine retired a couple years ago and I’ve given up on finding a good PCP for now. Going to coast by on hope, luck, and Minute Clinic’s until I hit my 40s and will start looking again.

I’m in Ohio but company I work for is in Florida. They said it was use it next week or lose it and I had no other options. I just wish I had more notice bc now I have to cancel all the plans I had made and don’t have time to reschedule. We used to have more options with our pto (like cashing it out) but we had a merger and everything changed.

 

Family dinner last night. Dad mentions Mum has stopped using her phone at night. Oh good sleep hygiene my brother comments. No, the apps go dark and I can't see them anymore. Stop laughing lots of other things go dark too! Mum's phones is taken and the night mode is switch from automatic back to off. The night games have returned.
