Yeah my boss is going to Disney World for the next week, dudes gonna die of heat stroke haha. He's well aware, his family just really pushed for it lol
61 out with a high of 77 today... Coldest weather we've had in weeks other than during some brief rain
I’ve only ever been to Disney World/Florida during the winter so I can’t imagine what the weather is rn. Godspeed
Every month at work my team does a “Funtivity” on Teams and the prize is usually a couple hundred dollars in Dell Store points. I finally won my first one last month, which was cool, but I just won again this morning - by a lot - and everyone seemed to think I was cheating (honestly couldn’t tell if people were joking or not but it was maddening considering I was literally playing at the same time I was on a stressful personal call) and my manager decided to call the win “moot,” (for various reasons, one of them being that it wasn’t the game we were originally going to play?) so I don’t get a prize!
My job's company-wide quarterly meeting was yesterday and they showed a small little slideshow of pictures from some of our sales reps out in the wild at conventions and whatnot, and people in the zoom meeting's chat were like "OMG these are giving me chills" and "I just got teary eyed!" and it's just yet another reminder to me that I can't fucking stand corporate people and their fake personalities.
My supervisor is amazing and hilarious but it wasn’t cool! I really wanted to win because last time I got myself some Hue light bars and I justtt set them up last night and need more so that it’s not just one lonely lit up corner of the kitchen. I was super stoked when I realized I was in the lead this morning but then it was literally ripped right out of my hands!
we had one of these about a month ago (I never attend) and I was told that our main manager / director referenced some work event as “the best 5 days of my life” and I cackled endlessly. Had I been on the call or god forbid heard that bullshit in person I would have had to leave the room. Such nonsense.
I hear that kind of stuff all the time in our company meetings hahaha. It's so bizarre. In the meeting yesterday, they had us do breakout room activities, and I would just leave the meeting entirely when those started and then would rejoin when they were done haha.
A few years ago the new head of our division started and I was skeptical of him and his ideas from the jump and I haven’t really been shown anything that changes my thoughts on him and his bizarre reshaping of our “office culture”. Last year he organized our first full blown office gathering and had everyone fly in and made everyone attend. I was on vacation that week, specifically to avoid it, and he got big mad. The next one is coming up in about 6 weeks and little does he know (and little does my manager seem to realize) that my vacation for that week has already been approved (was approved in March as soon as the dates were confirmed lol). What’s annoying is everyone ALREADY asking if I will be there and how excited they are for it. It’s a fucking lame ass 8 hour forced gathering at a shitty bar in town on a Wednesday. What is exciting about that. I can’t tolerate these people via email let alone in person where every conversation will inevitably be about work, the weather or very vague things since everyone is remote and doesn’t know each other. No thanks! Hoping I never get stuck having to attend one of these things but if I am I’m just gonna go the Marshawn Lynch route: “I’m only here so I don’t get (fined) in trouble.”
When customers call me up and flat-out ask what new products my company has in the works. Dude, do you really think I’m just casually gonna drop classified info that’ll cost me my job? FOH
Mr. Beast literally built well after well to provide the people of Africa with clean drinking water and there are people out here finding fault with even that, saying it’s about his own exposure rather than helping those in need. dude is literally doing one of the kindest things you can do and getting shit for it. this world really makes me sick sometimes
How sily. Even if someone did it for exposure like... People still have clean drinking water as a result. Who cares?
There is another youtuber whose whole thing is he post videos of him feeding the homeless and people constantly are like "you're creating content and profiting off people's suffering" and i'm like this kid could have started a twitch channel where he plays CoD, or he could have started a video essay channel where he dissects the deeper meaning of Spongebob episodes or some shit. Instead he is feeding homeless people, a thing that the people complaining are probably not doing and never did.
I do think there is something undeniably "off" about turning acts of kindness into "content," but I don't think that single-handedly invalidates them or their potential impact
I get that but the whole notion is to spread the goodness. if these people didn’t publicize then someone else would and people would be saying the same exact shit. can’t even do good in this world anymore without cynicism
