I wish my work unit was doing something festive tbh. I miss having somewhat tightknit coworkers. Other units are doing stuff but the people in mine are so resistant to anything thats not strictly work. Which for the record I don't think anyone has to do that stuff but I like the option to do cute secret Santa things and talk to another human or two. Everywhere I've worked prior to this was small and close so I'm having culture shock for sure

 

When I blow my nose and there’s blood on the tissue

 

The target nearest me has only one small self check out register by the impulse snacks convenience section and only has like two other lanes ever open and it ruins my happy target vibes. Yesterday i was in self checkout with like four things and the group in front of me needed assistance and it took forever to get someone and then the last person in front of me let her kid slowly scan everything and she had quite a bit and then she had alcohol so they had to flag a worker over again and I was so done. Target please don't do this to me.

Someone broke the gate handle that leads to the apartment gym and my key wouldn't work and there is an option to use our card scanner thing but that didn't work so I decided to go through the lobby entrance and the door to the gym from that side was locked too and a staff member had to unlock it. I go to the gym to de-stress not to bring more attention to myself!

Also the guy suggested I try my gate key and I'm like bruh like that's not the first thing I'd try??

the last company I worked for had a pretty good christmas party despite being an awful place to work. fancy dinner, drink tickets, usually the day after off work. working at a university, we surprisingly don't have much. I set up a secret santa for my faculty who is mostly foreign and they're all super excited about it, but unfortunately, I got my ticket to see Avatar before they scheduled it for the exact same time lmao. so I have a "doctor's appointment" this year.

it’s a tiny annoyance to me because it doesn’t impact me directly but I have to listen to my sister and mom gripe about it constantly so it will grow as an annoyance…

my sister and her husband are getting a divorce. He just bought a house and a new superfucking obnoxious truck and complains how expensive it is already (then… why buy it…) and he told his daughters he bought “them” a dog for Christmas. A puppy. He works full time, 9-10 shifts and travels 40 minutes each way to work. So… not ideal conditions for a dog to deal with which really pisses me off. And he’s ALREADY asked my sister (his ex-wife) if she can watch the dog on New Year’s Eve because he won’t be home.

Like… what the fuck. How dumb do you have to be. He complains how expensive his truck is. Then buys a house and a month later buys a dog. Not sure if he’s just an absolute dipshit to how expensive dogs are or what but like Jesus Christ I used to think this guy had some brains.

And then I found out (from him, I literally had to call to make sure my sister wasn’t just being hyperbolic) his work literally gave him a company car and credit card for gas if he uses that vehicle but he doesn’t like driving it because it’s “not as nice” as his new truck. Like… you are literally wasting money and then wasting energy complaining about something you can directly control. The fuck is the matter here.

Seriously debating if he needs professional help or something because none of this is logical.

 

My bedroom had a ton of spiderwebs on the wall but they looked different than what I usually see and almost looked like lots of small strands of lint or dirt. I don't usually turn the main light on because I prefer the low lights so i couldnt really see them until i did. I had to use a swiffer and clean all the walls. I've never had to do that anywhere i live before. And now I'm waiting to find the spider lurking around somewhere. It's only in my bedroom and nowhere else in the house. So gross and annoying

I’ve been feeling like crap all weekend and called out of work today. Sore throat and muscle fatigue in my legs. So I took a covid/flu test at my clinic (you have to select your symptoms) Came back saying I have covid. Mild symptoms. But at the same time wondering if they just say that for numbers.

 

This sucks. Miraculously, I haven't had it, but I had a pretty bad case of RSV while on vacation a couple of months ago and someone else who had it said the symptoms were just as bad. I hope you're able to rest and feel better soon.

 

to add to this why does every place only have showings before 4 or 5 and never on the weekend? A lot of people work during that time!! I’m not taking time off of work to come see an apartment that’s probably shitty!

Discovered a new pet peeve at work today. People refer to their or others' children as "kiddos". I can't explain why, but it just annoys me.

 

When my sister gives me updates on my mother. We haven’t spoken in over 7 years. I don’t care.

 

Lmao I do this and hate myself every time. It just comes out. Not every time I reference kids but enough that when it does I pause and am like wait who just overtook my body for a sec??

When I taught we were told to call children "Friends" and it took me years to stop calling kids friends. When you're not in a classroom setting it gets kinda weird to call random kids friends lol

 

Umm, why not just come to my desk and tell me directly?

Calling them "friends" is way weirder haha. I'm not sure I'd ever be able to get on board with that.

 

So far mild symptoms. Just a sore throat, small cough, and leg fatigue that I don’t recall ever feeling before with a common cold. Sadly I have no one to get things at the store for me

 

Could you do Instacart or Walmart delivery, or is that too expensive?

 

My work has been terrible lately with giving us bad news (ironic since it’s part newspaper). They sent us an ominous email last week about all-employee meeting. Nothing else about what it was about. The main head who was leading the meeting joked about it being so ominous then outlined how everything is bad and we’re not doing well (she’s doing fine. She’s handsomely paid and has a huge office.) That sucked.

Then I get another ominous text to today from my department boss about how they need to talk to me tomorrow. Don’t say anything about what it’s about or anything. Just that they need to see me. It is endlessly stressful and anxiety inducing. It’s such a terrible way to treat employees (Either make it same day or don’t send it). Completely ruined my night.
