I don’t attend after work get togethers. mainly because I’m around those people too much and maybe I had a bad week and I just want time to myself away from work

 

well after leaving my phone at home and coming back to nothing, I feel like I was right to think most people don't really give a fuck about me. I put so much effort into my art and it just seems all for naught. I usually do pretty good on release day insofar as people showing their support but I feel like this is the least I've ever gotten and it's really fucking disheartening tbh. some people have really made me feel good about what I'm doing and I'm very grateful for them but sometimes I just feel like why am I even doing it anymore. feel like no one really gives a fuck and it's sad because I always try to be so supportive of others. it's not about anyone else, just makes me feel foolish is all

 

I really doubt I'll be such a supportive person going forward

gotta give to get and I see so little reciprocity that it's hard not to be bitter

 

If it makes you feel any better, I will most certainly be reading some poetry come October 9th! Happy release day dude!

Same! I often feel similarly outside of this forum (people here have been so kind about my music). It's hard to find that kind of support IRL, especially amongst other artists (ironically enough). I don't have much advice, but I empathize and feel the support will continue to come in with time. I'm very, very excited to read my copy, friend.

@angrycandy how does distribution of your book work? Like are these in your house and you're shipping them out or are they sitting in an Amazon warehouse somewhere

 

so I had a publisher for the first book I did and I still have copies to get rid of tbh but that was because I got fucked over in the deal in many ways. glad I went through it tho because I started self-publishing with kdp which is Amazon's self-publishing outfit. the deal is the book is essentially on their platform but never gets printed if no one orders. I've been lucky enough tho that I've never had to worry about that
