I can't believe I'm seeing this blue ink negativity. If the paperwork you're working with is black, the blue is easy to distinguish.

open it and if it looks/smells fine then you should be good to go. For the most part food tells you when it has gone bad. And the dates are usually Best By dates, or guaranteed freshness dates.
