Catcher in the Rye discourse is almost never not exhausting. It's like the original "you're not supposed to identify with this character" meme

 

Never finished reading Catcher In The Rye but I did accidentally steal a copy from a teacher by forgetting to return it to them before end of year and then they went to teach somewhere else

 

It is a good book but so many people don’t get it.

 

when you can tell someone just learned a word or phrase and are trying to use it in like every third thing they say

"yeah so I really feel like if we make a concerted effort then we can really do our best to maybe make a concerted effort to hopefully make a concerted effort"

The same people who call Holden “problematic” or whatever most likely would turn on Breaking Bad and be like “this Walter White guy actually isn’t so great!!”

 

How do you guys remember catcher in the rye even I read that in like middle school

 

Cause it’s a good book and I re read it in college for fun.

 

I never read it, John Lennon already died so no point

 

Franny and Zooey is my favorite of his but I have enjoyed them all

 

Hated it as a not very self-aware 9th grader, hit me pretty hard as a slightly more self-aware college freshman

 

There's this guy that I've seen multiple times skateboarding into oncoming traffic that terrifies me.

The uptick in articles I've been seeing re: banning books in school districts

 

95% done with my album and I really want to start playing shows but have no idea where to find bandmates (with no pay lol) or how to even get booked!

 

Do you know bands/people in bands in your area? Honestly what my band did early on is just approach people we know who were playing shows and said “hey, we’d love to get in on this.” Also no shame in reaching out to venues and pitching yourself for a show they’re hosting and seeing if anyone bites

 

the tribalism in this country is at a level I have never seen it before and it's terrifying

 

Someone fucking dinged my car. There’s a smidge or blue paint. This is what happens when you can’t park far and away from people. I’m sure I can buff it out with some wax but wtf

 

When I’m out in public and I get a peek at someone else’s iPhone, and they have the red notification circle appearing on like 15 different apps - that almost triggers me. I get jittery if I see that red circle on more than 2 apps on my phone

 

So despite having 100+apps on my phone, I restricted myself to only get notifications for texts, Snapchat, and WhatsApp

 

That super bugs me too and I clear them out as soon as I notice usually, which ends up with me forgetting to go back and look at stuff sometimes but oh well lol

 

LinkedIn is the fucking worst with that. I get like 4 an hour for generic spam bullshit articles or something and as soon as I clear them out, magically 8 more pop up

 

Unless you’re waiting for a job advert, I’d just disable notifications for the app
