Not sure. It only happens in the summer time with the heat. I’ve read online they can get in through a window screen or when you open the door. I also have my cat so I’m worried about chemical sprays. I’m also working hard not to have food particles in the sink.
Yeah I'm sure it depends where youre from too, I don't think they're very common where I'm from and I just have such a phobia of bugs lol maybe it's a lot more common where you are
Check to make sure there's no gaps by your AC. I had an apartment once that had a fly problem and then when I sealed the gap off it went away
It’s frustrating to not be able to have apples, bananas or any fruit out during summer for longer than a day or two. Seems like I buy 4-5 of a fruit and within 3 days a few gnats show up too as if they came with the purchase lol Years ago I forgot a 5-pound bag of potatoes in one of my cabinets that I never use (and knew putting them in that cabinet was taking a risk lmao) and after a few weeks I noticed a gnat here or there, but never in the kitchen. And there was no smell. And then one day I realized, “holy fuck, I never ate those potatoes” and opened the door to a trillion gnats swirling about in whatever goop was left of the potatoes. Immediately closed the cabinet, grabbed the vacuum and sucked them all up and then tried not to throw up constantly as I cleaned up the potatoes. What an experience lol
I also leave my patio doors open to just the screen and gnats and flies and even somehow fucking bees get in that way somehow even though I don’t see any openings but those fuckers can get in from anything
Oh and also not to mention these gnats like to swarm around my cats litter scoopings. I have a small covered trash bin that I put them in. Because I don’t have this issue in the winter/spring, I took out the dryer sheets I had in there. I put them back to see if it helps. also I mentioned this before, but on mobile my keyboard constantly disappears, causing me to frequently click on ads. not much of an annoyance per se but my eyebrow lady had to cancel (her entire day today), and I can’t get back in until mid next month. My brows are a mess and I would be going 3 months without my brows did.

I had a roach crawl out of my sink. Well it was in my bathroom sink and it blended in with the shitty material/design of the counter. Now I’m terrified. It took forever for it to stop crawling as I continued to spray it with a bathroom cleaner
