I think the worst part about driving is I also suck at driving and so does everyone else so it's just a disaster out there.

It’s not a tiny annoyance, it’s a major one, but we don’t have or need a “major annoyance thread” but people who don’t turn on their fucking headlights when it’s foggy. And it’s ALWAYS fucking grey or white vehicles too which makes it even more frustrating. Whoa! Can’t see 10 feet in front of you? Better not think to turn on lights which might make it easier for people to see you coming! Fuck off.

Had in person meetings today with about 65 people, 35 or so are new to company so meeting them for the first time in person and yeah, in person is not the way to go lol. So many annoyances, let’s just keep things remote and use technology.

Every time I hear ppl lament about remote tech and wanting to meet all in person again I die inside. There's almost no upside to me. Saving time not having to transport to other offices for meetings alone makes remote meetings worth it for me.

    I've been back for over a year. I have a great group...BUT -

The main change in being in office now is that now I have to talk to people about their family lives and whatnot for 4 hours per day, attend meetings I don't need to be at, and then attempt to do my job in between all of that.

Before, during telework, I got to mute those people, finish my work in half the time, clean my house and cook great meals...way more positive experience. I was even promoted after coming back :crylaugh: "Let's take his productivity away for the sake of keeping a giant building full!"

When you go late night grocery shopping because your anxiety had you all day and you get stuck behind 3 people with carts FULL of groceries. And because it’s late night there’s only one checker

On the other side of what Kiana said now I feel like a criminal every time I need to blow my nose when I'm not at home lol

Only if it's like constant! Or idk maybe I'm the weirdo cause I excuse myself to the bathroom to do that. Not just to spare others but cause I gotta do a booger check and make sure nothing rogue is hanging out in my nose for all to see

No one at my work has got it through their head to not come to work sick. It genuinely makes me lose respect for a person. It's fine if it's the first day, and they're not quite sure if they're coming down with something, but I've had coworkers be full on in the middle of a cold or worse, just come in and act like it's nothing. Some of them even admit like 'ohhh I don't feel well, just have a cold so stay away' like it's now my responsibility. WORK FROM HOME IF SICK

  15. probably not describing this very well, but in movies or tv shows when they do an over the shoulder shot and you see the actor's mouth isn't moving while there's audio of them talking. if you've seen it once, you can never unsee it again.

Along these lines, if a character is talking but their back is to the camera I assume the dialogue was added or edited after the fact. Not an annoyance but I remember listening to a commentary on an episode of LOST and someone said, “I never even said those lines in that scene, they had me say them in a booth months later and added it to that scene” or something like that and my mind was kind of blown and made me wonder how often that happens

Yeah but i also wish employers and schools would stress this too. I remember in college some teachers would mark you down if you missed more than like two or three days in the term. I always felt so pressured not to stay home. I'm lucky enough to work somewhere with sick leave but places that don't offer that deserve to go under.

Sometimes it sucks cause when I get a cold it feels like my runny/stuffy nose lingers forever but yeah I don't like full on blow my nose at my cubicle. It'd be one thing to sneeze into a tissue cause you can't always control a sneeze. But bathroom or bust with blowing my nose. Plus then I can wash my hands right after.

Before COVID I would come in with a cold all the time, and from what I know most people did in every company I have ever worked for. Also it's really hard to determine here if what we have is sickness or just allergies but still I get the sentiment and how shitty that may be

  19. When I used to work in an office with other people, there were sometimes when people would come in and say “uggggh I have strep throat…”

I mean the alternative used to be used a PTO day which noone wants to waste while sick so I don't blame people. But if you have the option to work from home it should be a no brainer. Why would anyone even want to leave their place if their sick?

  21. For sure. But also some companies don’t even offer PTO and you only have a limited number of sick days. So sometimes people literally can’t afford to call in sick. So if it’s just a cold, I can understand why some people might just say “fuck it” and go into work. But yeah, if there’s a work home option, totally makes sense to take advantage of that. Especially if you feel well enough to work, but you are contagious with something or whatever.

Employers who don't pay for employees sick time or discourage them from calling out when they work with food especially is egregious to me.

  23. I mean hell, at my first couple of jobs when I was like 16 I’d get grilled over calling out even if I was legit sick and would be made to call around to have my shift covered. If I couldn’t get someone I’d either have to go in or feel like I was walking on thin ice for the next few weeks. Carried that mentality with me a little too long afterward unfortunately

I have sick time for the first time ever at this job but now that I can work remote unless I'm like dying I feel like I wouldn't be able to use it without feeling weird lol

On this theme though, I was in a theater last night and some dude two rows down was letting out coughs through the whole thing. And I get that some people just kinda naturally cough a lot/clear their throat or whatever but like dog a movie theater is not the place for you right now you’re freaking us all out!!

Who knows, maybe I’m the asshole for going out in public and being mad about all the people haha
