That's totally not what I meant, if you're refering it to what I've said ;) but I guess I should stop trying to define why I like it, it's just an opinion - all in all, I just don't consider it to be not good enough for my liking, that's it ;)
I think people have clearly stated why they like the band/album. It is not because it's ''different.''
Just a reminder that you're allowed to like things without having to give a satisfactory answer as to why.
Listened to this again today and yeahhhh, as much as I dislike the vocals, they don't take away from this THAT much for me. I honestly love this (which surprises me because I never got past 'meh' with their old stuff)
also, while there are some really egregious lyrics on here, theres some really really god stuff too. im in shock at how much i love this album. would not be surprised if this ends up in my top 10 of the year
Musically, I love this. The vocal melodies are catchy too. But the vocals are hit or miss throughout the songs and some of the lyrics (like the "hold me like a baby" line) are pretty laughable.
I think the vocals definitely are definitely something that you need to get used to. The lyrics....yeah, not much to say about them. But I honestly can't find a song I would skip on this record. It's so much fun
This album totally slipped under the radar. Didn't even realize it was actually out. Gotta give it a listen when I can.
i wish i weren't so horribly broke so i could pick up that 180g LP! but i'm planning on seeing them on tour so maybe i'll just get the tour pressing
i like it instrumentally but i can't get past some of the lyrics. just grating at times. i love the tones on "breathe deep" though
Haven't come back to this as much as I'd like just because of all the new music out in the past few weeks, but I'm sure this is gonna be a staple this summer.
ive been listening to this a lot but i get mad on "headache" when he sings the line about holding him like a baby.
I didn't notice this line until people kept bringing it up in this thread, and now that is all I hear whenever that song comes on and I hate it, haha.
haha yeah, that part of lyrics is probably the funniest, not in a good way of course ;p although, I don't care that much for this, I always try to imagine it might have meant something to the author like an inside joke or something ;p
There is the one melodic jump he does in every song and at the end of phrase that keeps me from liking this band. I think it's where he drops his vocal melody down a major or minor third all the time. It's something blink used to do a lot which was cool but he just does it almost every song and constantly. I would love this band if they could get a producer to catch this
Well, sometimes his melodies actually reminded me of old-school Tom Delonge ;p but especially on "Pleasant Living".
the great guitarwork is making it easier and easier to look past this album's faults. i am in love with that opening riff on minnesota
