Really glad I waited to listen to Warm Hand Splash until I heard the full album, it's a fantastic closer.

Wow, this album is great. These guys really stepped it up, this is their best work by far. Probably also my favorite album of the year up to this point.

  2. I’m glad every one is really enjoying this! One of my favs of the year so far - finished the review the other night so it’ll be live on here later today or early Monday

I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but I'm enjoying this way more than their previous output.

Read this as I'm listening to Wildfire and the guitars in the bridge are giving off mad Transit vibes.

Yeah this is how I feel about it after a couple listens. I wasn’t a big fan of their first and enjoyed Celebrate for the whole spring/summer of 2016 but then it fell off for me.

Not sure how much staying power this will have, but for now I really dig it.

A half hour is the perfect length for this kind of album. As soon as it’s done I want to start over.

I'm getting to where I never want an album longer than 40 minutes.

I slept on their last one, but I really enjoyed the first two, so I checked this out and I'm glad I did. Diving in for round 2 now.

  11. Overall I like this more than Celebration already! The first few tracks I was unsure, but every song from Wildfire to the end just slays. Lyrics could still use some work but there's nothing here as bad as the worst moments on the last record hah

Common music reviewer: There's barely any evolution in their sound. They just wrote the same album all over again.

me (an intellectual): Sometimes when something is really good, you just want more of it.

There’s the perfect balance of straightforward songwriting and tapping/noodly parts. My only complaint is that Dylan’s vocal patterns are still pretty similar to how they were on Celebrate but hey, it works.

Pretty cool album. The one thing about this band that drives me up the wall a lil bit is that one vocal melody they use in every single song. It's not even a bad melody, it just makes all their stuff really blend to me. If you wanna an example of it, it happens :23 seconds into Applause haha. And I swear it's in every. single. verse.

    EDIT:

Like it's got to be a concerted effort right? What is with it?

    0:23 in Applause
    1:08 in Smooth It Out
    1:58 in Feel Alive
    0:21 in Caution
    2:53 in Wildfire
    0:11 in Whale Watching
0:23 in It's Too Cold Tonight
    1:12 in Malfunction
    0:33 in Wishbone
    0:41 in Warm Hand Splash

Okay so wtf it's actually literally in every single song on this album... and like I know it's in their earlier work too.

I see what you mean. It's really similar in every song and I think part of that is just the way Dylan sings, and part of their "thing"

    You and I are panoramic

“Reflective monologue in a situation that doesn't help you
Raw perspective on the story, how one became two
My diaphragm collapsing at the sound of each and every move
I still miss you, I still miss you

You place your hand on the glass, try to get through
A mirror is only a mirror if you look into
My diaphragm collapsing at the sound of each and every move
I still miss you, I still miss you, I still miss you”

God I love this part of Feel Alive. Most emotional and cathartic point on the album for me.

This is so good. It reminds me of a more singy Rooms of the House, or Stage Four. It has the same energy and emotion that have kept those records in my regular rotation. Really really liking this.

Solid 10 tracks all the way through but need time to digest and start finding the unique elements. Happy to get another album so soon after Celebrate (which was one of my favorites of 2016)
