Loving this album. Super pleasant. It’s never a huge leap for them but just a solid continuation.

“Staring at empty faces” is the the most unexpected thing on here, so vibey, might be my favorite

    Pretty middling on first listen.

Head is Like a Sinking Stone is the main highlight still (and man, the percussion on it is so, so good). Light Leaks Through was cool, but kind of overstayed.

But I felt this way about spin and IWCHYRM at first and then wound up loving them both, so gonna spend more time with this and hopefully it'll grow.

What a comeback (wasn't really into their last one)! Staring at Empty Faces is amazing. What a vibe!

I really enjoy this album! They’re not reinventing the wheel, they’re just doing what they do best, and that’s exactly what I want from them.

I’m stoked to see them next week in Portland!

We reach for the longest shadow

It's definitely still Tigers Jaw doing Tigers Jaw, but the production is punchy in a way I feel like they haven't been since... Charmer? Obviously cleaner sounding, but not as glossy as the last two. It helps that this is Ben and Brianna's best vocal performance on record. Ben especially sounds fantastic. Hard to believe it's even the same guy from the early records.

Lost on You is going to go off live. Great album closer.

I thought it’s not the same guy and they got a new singer after Charmer…

Well, kind of. Adam did a lot of vocals, along with Ben, and he left after Charmer (before it was actually released if I remember correctly?). That's the guy that does Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. Ben has been doing vocals since day one, and Brianna has been on records more and more especially starting with Charmer, but I'm not intimately familiar with the pre-Charmer material but she may have had a big presence there too.
