Love this single. TBH people give all the love to Charmer, but for me their last 2 records were practically perfect.
I’ve loved every album from them but spin and IWCHYRM are their best, in my opinion. Stoked for this and ordered the Zia /300 variant.
Last album was the first one that didn’t really do anything for me. Which was surprising because in particular, the S/T, Charmer, and Spin are records I love. This song rules though, and feels to me like a mix of their more recent records and their older stuff. I’m back in.
Dang this song rules. Feels like it’s a little less polished vocally than the last album, which is a welcome change for me IMO.
I always thought less polished sounded better for them. Love the sound of his voice on this one, it sounds "Tigers Jaw" to me that I enjoy most. And the clean vocals are good too but missing something of the "emo" feeling.
I've seen multiple "this is a Balance & Composure song" comments and yeah I kinda get it. But it's still unmistakably TJ also.
Hmm, yeah I can hear this, but I think it’s just two bands so intrinsically connected that there’s bound to be some similarities. Could also just be Yip’s tendencies shining through.
After spending the last few months obsessively listening to Tigers Jaw since their two performances at Best Friends Forever, I think they have now become my 6th favorite band of all time. Their entire recorded catalog is impeccable (including the vast array of non-album releases), tons of good past live recorded performances, the story of their lineup changes is fascinating, and them dropping a new album makes them worth emotionally investing in. They also seem like a band that will continue to promote their entire catalog. The band's brand should remain strong for the next decade and hopefully continue to grow. For me... Top 1-2 all time from teenage years and onward: Incubus and Sublime Top 3-5: Dance Gavin Dance (and all adjacent/related bands), Minus The Bear, The Get Up Kids Tigers Jaw shares some similarities with my top 5, which is what I think has me gravitating so much towards them. Glad I am getting on the Tigers Jaw train now. I'm about 17 years late, but at least all the music sounds new to me!
Agreed about a Bri song. I do think I like Head Is Like A Sinking Stone more than anything off IWCHYRM, but I still really like that album.
