it's just the most bland, safest elements of Tiger's Jaw wrapped up in an album. the fact that there is this little progression/difference after four years between this and spin is baffling. A lot of these sound like spin b-sides (and iirc a few began during the spin sessions)
Revisited Charmer and Spin today, and I would rank the three this way as of now: Charmer I Won't Care Spin There's something about Spin's production that's off to me in comparison to I Won't Care. Loved it when it came out and love it now, but not as much as the new one. Probably going to revisit a full discography ranking once this sits a little bit
The album is good but sounds like they are just re-writing songs. Really hope the next album brings in some evolution on the sound.
I'm pretty disappointed in this. I really liked the singles, so I wanted to give it some time, but I have listened to it like 10 times now and it just washes over me everytime. Nothing really sticks. Kinda bummed.
Too many wrong posts on this page. Need to break it up. This album rules and I'll be assigning it a number next January for sure.
Only listened once, but I keep thinking about the last two songs. Pretty happy with this, and excited to return. Definitely similar to Spin, but more lush in places.
Currently feeling like the opener and the last 3 already make me like it more than SPIN, but I'm just gonna focus on liking this one for a while before trying to compare.
I like this more with each listen. I wanna echo the statement said earlier in the thread where Cat's Cradle sounds amazing in context of the album. Perfect sequencing on their part
I have always been a casual Tigers Jaw fan/never listened to any of their albums more than a few times occasionally - but I am loving this album more than anything else they have ever done. It’s been on repeat for days for me
Like many others have said, I am beginning to enjoy this more. I would put it above Spin at this point. Listening to the songs live (via the record release show) helps.
My daughter and I were jamming to this earlier. She was really digging “never wanted to” - extra smiley/giggly during that song haha edit: whoops, it was heaven apart.
