I started in '03 i think? and then kinda stopped around the time you picked them up, haha. i really liked FC and WATT but pretty much everything after that just didn't really have much staying power with me.
I'm the opposite. ACBTLD, CE and ND are in my top 5 favorite albums. I do like WATT, but I don't really care for FC. I think with this band, it depends on when you started haha.
Don't care for Full Collapse? Man that record changed me in a way when it was released. One of my favorite Thursday albums.
If it was rerecorded, I'd probably like it. Production kills it for me, and Geoff's vocal talents at the time are not fully developed.
Full Collapse, Tell All Your Friends, The Used's first album, and Second Stage Turbine Blade all were constantly on repeat in my room. They all came out right around the same time while I was in high school and kind of branching out of my punk rock/pop punk stuff.
Thursday got better with each album basically. I still enjoy FC, but it's hard to go back and listen to sometimes. ACBTLD and ND are the truth
I've noticed a trend with Full Collapse. If you didn't start listening to Thursday until WATT or after, then you probably don't care for Full Collapse.
yeah i don't think full collapse is really that good i like standing on the edge of summer but the vocals and melodies on the whole record are not very good i feel the same way but less so about WATT
At the MI show before playing Counting, they said "This is an old one" and someone screamed "no it isn't". It bums me out how many people go to their shows just to see FC songs when they got so much better as they went on
FC is my second favorite Thursday album. I started with WATT, and then went to FC. ACBTLD was not out yet.
understanding a car crash autobiography of a nation cross out the eyes paris in flames i am the killer standing on the edge of summer all classics
the melodies of so many of those songs are so uncomfortable, geoff has even talked about how wordy he was in the phrasing on that album
Full Collapse just flows so well. I like every song on it. To me, it's a step above WATT. The energy and passion on that album still gets me excited. I enjoy how raw it is.
FC is my least favorite front to back but its still a fine album, Casey has a point though Geoff crammed so many words into a melody on FC and even parts of WATT. But I think thats what gives Geoff his lyrical edge and charm so I dont mind it. ACBTLD and CE are my favorites and I think compliment each other very well. CE feels like the dark to ACBTLDs light in a way.
WATT is the album that got me into Thursday, and I'll always prefer it to FC. I'd honestly love for a ACBTLD album tour, even though I know it won't ever happen
Very much underrated. Its like they put ACBTLD and WATT in a blender but also added some different ideas here and there.
I don't mind the amount of lyrics Geoff used on Full Collapse. He was critical of that aspect of it, but it's still his personal favorite Thursday album. He could have used less, but his lyrics are what gives those songs so much character. The words really feel genuine. Those songs are undeniably earnest and I think that comes through especially because of how wordy he was. Also, Common Existence is super-underrated. For me, it's only second to No Devolucion.
