Damn, #exposed Personally there are no bad Thursday songs, the only ones I'm not crazy about are on waiting and that's due for a relisten anyways but there's so Much. Music
i dont think waiting is actually that bad. the best songs on there are up there with some of their best overall
Didn't call it bad!!! Pls don't flame me too :( Also I say it is due for a relisten bc full collapse was the only grower of the ones I like and everything else was more immediate so could have been the case with waiting as well
i recently relistened to full collapse after i went to the show ...geoff didn't have such a great sense of melody on that record, like, at all. jeez.
I GAVE A DISCLAIMER SAYING IT'S GOOD, JUST THAT IT'S MY LEAST FAV. SOMETHING'S GOTTA BE AT THE BOTTOM
Full collapse is already the least best. On first listen FC reminded me of TAYF and I did not like TAYF when I listened to that. At all. Good thing the songs were better! you mean vocally or musically? Bc I agree with the former to an extent but think "at all" is harsh haha
He said fridmann pushed him to write like a vocalist instead of a lyricist. You can tell that's the case From ACBTLD and on
i think the melodies kind of suck on that record, hahaha. few catchy songs but the phrasing in how he sings is really offputting
okay, that's probably fair; I think the beginning of understanding in a car crash is a good example of clumsy melodic and lyrical phrasing BUT it brings it back and turns into a great pop song. Most of the time he's building towards the scream parts and he sounds a little like he's preparing for those imo
FC still my fav Thursday release, but mainly due to personal reasons. First heard it after falling in love with WATT in 8th grade. The summer after graduation I bought FC. Was a magical summer.
full collapse and some of war all the time have many horrible examples of geoff cramming too many words into a small space. dave challenging him to be more to the point in his lyrics and getting more out of less allowed him to make room for great vocal parts. see: circuits of fever
yeah, that's very very true. not to mention that he definitely was not a great singer at that point too, leads to a lot of moments that makes the pre ACBTLD work clearly not as good to me
I don't waaaaaaant to feel this way forever Yeah he def figured out how to arrange everything so it would all have it's moment. Would say No Devo is p wordy at times, nothing like WATT but he makes it work flawlessly
i never minded the cramming; i tend to dislike songs with few and/or simple lyrics so geoff has been refreshing in that sense
that's my order too, but WATT and CE are actually p close. think the songs are better on WATT even if he grew a lot since then
I like a lot of songs on WATT, but if I was for some reason unable to ever listen to it again, I wouldn't be too distraught. However, no such event will ever transpire, so I guess I'll be listening to WATT again.
how's he gonna breathe tho WATT songs are almost short stories with choruses I cannot and will not ever pick between ND and City. I think FC and WATT have merit though! For example, I enjoy his lyrics on those a lot which is what I mostly need to connect
