It wasn't the amount of Full Collapse songs that surprised me as much as it was the amount if WATT songs they did. They played half the album
I got most of the songs I wanted most other than Into the Blinding Light so I can't complain but I wish the albums were split a little more evenly
They played most of the songs I thought they would. The big surprises for me were How Long Is The Night, You Were The Cancer, and War All The Time
Seems like the east coast is the place to be for Chorus posters. Y'all look cute. I'm getting back into Thursday finally so I'm really pulling for some Midwest activity in 2017.
I was so out of it last night, and work wouldn't leave me alone. Still an amazing show...I'll echo the encore love too. First opener was hella bad as previously stated
Full Collapse and WATT are incredible and still hold up and everything after is on another level that those albums can't touch and idk my personal feelings aside I feel like I can point to some qualities that are ""objectively"" (I say this loosely, pls don't drag me) more "refined" from a songwriting perspective. Geoff became a better vocalist post WATT, not cramming a million lyrics in his melodies helped to stretch what he could do with his voice and makes for more interesting vocals (hm subjective quality here, fuck), they diversified their sonic pallette -- even Common Existence has hella atmospherics for being more straight forward than City and No Dev. Plus as musicians they just got a lot tighter, from what I can hear. Will say the angular, stop start thing they cultivated so well on WATT will never not be impressive to me and the way he was not only able to cram all those lyrics into FC and watt but pull them off is also very very cool. I think the setlist will eventually get more even
Also still a little salty turnpike divides got a last minute cut from the setlist at wrecking ball bc of time. The only no dev song. I GET IT. But I don't like it.
Ugghh my fingers will be crossed all day for this song to somehow make it's way into tonight's set list.
If they play no dev songs, I'd be surprised if they didn't play that one. Only other ones I could see them subbing are magnets caught in a metal heart and maybe stay true?? Maybe??
I had a feeling since the only time they've ever played it was at a holiday show and it seemed to fit the night
