http://www.app.com/story/entertainm...-reunites-playing-starland-ballroom/95747678/ Thursday will play two very different sets at the Starland Thursday and Friday. “The cool thing is that few songs will be repeated,” Rickly said. “The first night will be the nihilistic evening. It’ll be filled with dark songs. And then the next night will feature more hopeful songs.” Rickly would like to take a break from his current band, United Nations, and give Thursday a chance. “I feel with what’s happening in the world, that there is a need for what Thursday can do.” Rickly said. “I think there is a need for a band with compassion, sincerity and creativity. My heart is with Thursday.”
Damn right, this terrible world needs more Thursday to keep us sane. I hope they film the Starland shows like they did Wrecking Ball.
Holy shit. I didn't want to get my hopes up but fuck I'm so happy with this. Will this save 2016 for me? Maybe, maybe
As opposed to all those upbeat dance numbers about car crashes, war and hate crimes on the earlier records
That story made me think about what lighter positive songs they have and I struggle to come up with many besides We Will Overcome and Stay True. Rescuscitation of a Dead Man just came to mind
For Friday, I'd expect stuff like: This Side of Brightness (doubtful) Streaks in the Sky (I wish lol) Standing on the Edge of Summer Marches and Maneuvers Steps Ascending M. Shepard Tomorrow I'll Be You We Will Overcome Dead Songs (wishful thinking) Voices on a String (wishful thinking) Resuscitation of a Dead Man Time's Arrow Stay True Yeah, not many of their songs are clearly hopeful haha.
