Didn't Thrice always intend to come back though? While Thursday intended their break up to be permanent? I'm not saying Thursday won't, but it seems like the circumstances behind Thrice and Thursday breaking up make the reunions a little different too. I will say that I see Thursday writing new music more likely than them tour indefinitely on their prior stuff. If they don't write new music, they'd probably hang it up
I like the idea of "Into The Blinding Light" being about overwhelming light. I think the comparison between TDAG and ACBTLD is great Jake.
no, both bands used the term indefinite hiatus deliberately to show it wouldnt be permanent. thrice didnt know when theyd pick back up, thursday didnt know when they would pick back up, but both figured they would eventually. sure there was more turmoil in the thursday camp but the circumstances werent all that different.
gotcha, guess I got it mixed up a bit. I wasn't really paying attention to these particular bands yet when Thursday broke up (I still don't really pay attention to Thrice). Mostly I think the way Geoff has talked about wanting to keep Thursday pressure free is what makes it seem like there's not gonna be a lot of new material coming out of this, but it'd be cool for more stuff channeling ACBTLD onward
good podcast episode, i'll check out the rest. also i WISH more bands sounded like A City, I feel like they don't though? But A City also just has a lot of sonic ground covered there. Other 2006 Records that don't sound dated to me: Brother, Sister and to a lesser extent, Sound The Alarm
The main reason I'm doubting whether or not they'll be back in a big way next year is they didn't sound that definite about doing more at Wrecking Ball. Geoff definitely said "We don't have any plans after this year". That being said, they looked like they had a huge amount of fun playing. I guess the toughest thing is they probably all have other jobs which are hard to quit.
I'd expect a tease about the future at the holiday shows. They'll be back next year, I don't doubt that at all
After the first show though, they said that had no plans for 2016 other than that and look what happened, a few dates haha.
I had a dream on Thursday (omg) that they were playing the same end of year school party as in the movie Sing Street (check it out, it's amazing) and they just played The Other Side of the Crash x100 and I went wild each time.
man i just dont get the mentality to not want an album because you dont think they'll top the last one. this is fucking thursday. you should have all the confidence in the world they'll try their hardest to outdo themselves. even if you dont like it as much as their last album, or whatever album, it'll still be a fucking great album. thats no reason to not want one.
