as i was picking songs for my list i realized most of the city tracks work best as pieces of the whole album
Picking 10 Thursday songs is impossible. But here: 1. Panic on the Streets of Healthcare City 2. A Gun in the First Act 3. Autobiography of a Nation 4. Past and Future Ruins 5. A Darker Forest 6. Jet Black New year 7. The Lovesong Writer 8. Introduction/Streaks in the Sky 9. I am the Killer 10. Ladies and Gentlemen: My Brother, the Failure Honorable Mentions: An Absurd and Unrealistic Dream of Peace, Dying In New Brunswick, Telegraph Avenue Kiss, Dead Songs, Voices on a String, Ian Curtis, Understanding In A Car Crash, How Long is the Night, Steps Ascending, Tomorrow I'll Be You, Into the Blinding Light, Beyond the Visible Spectrum, You Were the Cancer, Wind Up, Love Has Led Us Astray, Turnpike Divides
It's ridiculous that basically none of my top 10 are shared by anyone else... outside of Jet Black New Year? Damn. Speaks to Thursday's tremendous discography.
here i was thinking im the only Ken around here. United we stand. But yeah you cant go wrong with any top 10 here, their discography is one of very few that id call "perfect"
I can't think of a better name, honestly. I started by listing songs that I love from each album and came to about 40... it was a real struggle to narrow it down.
1. You Were the Cancer 2. The Other Side of the Crash 3. Even the Sand is Made of Seashells 4. As He Climbed the Dark Mountain 5. Autumn Leaves Revisited 6. In Silence 7. Turnpike Divides 8. For the Workforce, Drowning 9. Signals Over the Air 10. A Gun in the First Act This list is fairly different from the list I made a couple months ago. I suspect it'd be different again if I wrote it in a different mood tomorrow.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I think Panic on the Streets of Health Care City is a much, much better version of The Other Side of the Crash. The lyrics are just phenomenal. The energy is more intense. I enjoy it so much more.
Oh, man. Panic is cool, but I think they refined it a lot in The Other Side of the Crash. I get chills when Other Side hits its climax.
I remeber vividly the first time the whole album clicked for me. It was during A Darker Forest for my fifth or so listen, and got so jazzed remebering Sparks and Empty Glass would be later in my listen.
Was Magnents Caught In A Metal Heart the first track from that album that we all heard? I remember people being super lukewarm on it
