Full Collapse is the best starting point bc chronologically you're at the beginning of Thursday discovering who they were and beginning to accomplish it, it's a good record, and some fan favorite live cuts are on it (Understanding, Cross, Paris) and you get to hear their progression as they improve significantly/set themselves apart.
Assuming you like Full Collapse and want to even finish? Absurd, I know. But there have been people in this thread mention not liking Full Collapse that much even. I agree with your reasoning to start with that album so you can watch their sound progress and evolve, but still think War All The Time is a better place to start. It's more accessible, I think. And then if you like that, then by all means go back to Full collapse and then start.
I see what you're saying, but I think most people in this thread (me included) mention not liking Full Collapse specifically in comparison to their other albums. It's good, but not their best in comparison to where they end up. also I think Full Collapse is def more accessible than WATT, even if it's at the cost of WATT's aggression and slight weirdness
Yeah Full Collapse is a lot like Beneath Medicine Tree or Bleed American or Gutter Phenomenon to me in that by itsself its a really fantastic album, a classic even. But in the context of their discography its the weakest. I do agree with you @airik625 in that WATT is more accessible and probably a better starting point, I just want people to see the progression the way I and many others experienced it. But honestly its not that big a deal, check out WATT then go back to FC then forward from there if you want. You cant really go wrong.
actually switch Bleed American with Invented, and thats disregarding the original S/T and SP of course but yall get my point.
I've recently have started to listen to their albums for the first time since I was like, 17. Forgot how they sounded. I think I like Full Collapse way more than I ever did in high school

In case any of you are wondering if you have Thursday's full catalog, well, there's Thursday's full catalog (afaik)
Listened to WATT Sunday evening, and it's 2000's post hardcore perfected. I remeber the first time the album clicked for me , and it's still such a substantial piece of music. Steps Ascending ughhhhhh

This side of brightness and in transmission are from waiting. Appeared & was gone is from the envy split
lol. All the other except fuck you, orchestra, and stolen guitars are on Spotify I think tho at least
I feel like it seems im shitting on WATT and Full Collapse a lot and I swear I actually really love those albums haha
The only reason anyone would say not to start with Full Collapse is because people in this thread are weird (or at least a weird sample of Thursday fans)
Also I flew from London to Atlanta this summer to see them play both shows and it was the greatest experience of my life.
@CoffeeEyes17 your playlist right now just shows At This Velocity. That's not a bad playlist lol My Top Ten would be: -For the Workforce, Drowning -The Other Side of the Crash -Turnpike Divides -Cross Out the Eyes -Asleep in the Chapel -You Were the Cancer -A Darker Forest -Jet Black New Year -We Will Overcome -Understanding in a Car Crash (but performed by Wolves at the Gate..... don't hate me too much!)
