I had completely forgotten that he was drugged and robbed the same week all that shit happened. This paragraph really stuck out: I couldn't imagine. The owner having more money than he knows what to do with, yet you are constantly having to front expenses. And then on top of that, it's with money you don't even have.
After finally seeing them I'm fairly confident im getting my Thursday tattoo by the next time I see them in November
There's a dead song on the audio tape. The strongest magnet couldn't wipe away. Singing, "It's alright." But it's not alright. Then: pinpricks on the back of your neck; a little voice inside you says: "When you hear dead songs, don't sing along--let it die!" Lift your small voices up and we'll stitch these cries into a choir. Our lonely notes form chords that the orchestra just can't divide. Alright?
I'm so glad this band is getting their due (or at least some of it). I've been going back through their disco and man it plays even better than I remember. I think the emo revival is making publications look back and go "whoa, Thursday was even more fantastic than we originally thought".
I like this, but I think it gets to shaky ground when Dave goes for the high notes. I think I would've liked it better if it was The World Is instead of just him and if the harmonies were him and Katie like in January 10th. That would've been cool
Watching the live videos at Wrecking Ball was awesome, but it made me realize how underwhelming their departure was a few years ago. The rooms they were playing in some cities were way too small for the impact this band has had. Watching this performance felt good in that sense.
Seeing those vids makes me that much more excited to see them at Starland later. Any guesses on when special guests will be announced for that? I'm hoping October but it might be something they can't announce until fairly close to the date.
One thing I love about the last 3 thursday records is that often you will think that the song has gotten as a big as it possibly can and then somehow they will bring it to another level
Yeah that's what happens to Into the Blinding Light with me. I love how much it grows towards the end.
ACBTLD is the best Thursday album but WATT is my favorite I want Geoff Rickly to do guest vocals on an ETID song I think they would mesh well together
Yes! Tims part on Ladies and Gentlemen is so cool. I'm honestly surprised Geoff never did guest vocals for a TBS song since theyre really really close friends
The last half of their discog absolutely crushes the first half, but WATT is only narrowly under Common Existence for me. A City by the Light might have my favorite song of theirs, I love Autumn Leaves Revisited a crazy amount. Actually A City might be my favorite period, but it's close
It's the record by them that I have had the least amount of time with, but I bought it on vinyl after seeing it because it's at a narrow number two for me right now. 1b? idk Autumn Leaves is a perf closer and closers matter to me a lot
No devolucion has grown a ton on me but nothing will beat war all the time for me. Just love their sound on that record.
