I love all Thursday but ACBTLD is special to me probably because I turned 16 the week after it came out and I remember seeing them 2 times that week meeting them at both and just being blown the fuck away by those songs live. Core memories for sure. Next week I got my license and put ACBTLD on for my first solo drive (oh Calcutta was the other one I listened to on that first drive that had just come out.)
he did a podcast which i believe was with jeremy bolm where he goes a bit deeper into that and his book. he might mention what years those were if you're actually curious.
Do like a small club tour. 250 cap max so it’s just the heads. No barrier. A band like I promised the world or something as support. Would go absolutely apeshit
Surely they could release Full Devolucion on bandcamp. Wonder why there never did anything with the Signals performances because at the time they seemed pretty sure they were gonna release them eventually.
Neverender day 1 setlist is BONKERS https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/thursday/2025/pool-deck-on-norwegian-jewel-miami-fl-1b40f128.html by bonkers I of course mean “ mostly what you’d expect except they opened with You Were the Cancer and closed with Into the Blinding Light”
I took a drink before I looked at the set list and almost spit it out all over my monitor looking at #1 Closing with Into The Blinding Light?!
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see both of them, I genuinely don't know if I've ever seen them play ITBL and I haven't seen YWTC since 2018. Great to see they've got both in the tank.
City and Common Existence are tied for me basically. And the best part of the Common Existence tour is they did a wild underplay at the First Unitarian Church and it was INCREDIBLE. I've heard itonly twice I believe, once being a Maxwells "secret show" in 2006. I just wish they played the "intro" before it. Man, what a jam - even with a goofy lyric like "i'm opening up that door to my house" I stopped keeping track of all the Thursday shows I've seen since 2002, but last check it was 40+? Perks of being from NJ and becoming friendly with most of the bands. A very cool memory is after their set at the Cure festival tour in 04, watching Interpol with Tom and Steve.
Can confirm that setlist and they did say they will be playing other deep cuts since they have 3 different sets on the cruise. Great show #1.
Fingers crossed those deep cuts find their way into the tour setlist (or, for me, the off-date shows)
Probably the same one Geoff played acoustic on the AG tour that he said he wasn’t sure if it would end up being a Thursday song or not. edit to add: the song is about Dave Shapiro
Second set was more of the same as usual. Total bummer after the social media teasing. And Geoff saying before they started they were going to play songs from when they were a basement band.
