I'm probably among the lower amount of times seen but I've seen them 3 times live and they've always been great

Interesting story. When I saw them I found it strange Geoff was wearing a hooded jacket for the first part of the set. Fast forward I’m listening to an ep of The First Ever Podcast w/ Geoff on it. He talks about how he always goes way too hard in the first half of the set and is then exhausted by the end so he wears the jacket to make sure he’s not exerting too much energy lol. Makes perfect sense

Did everyone see that Geoff is releasing his book “Someone who isn’t me” as an audiobook with him doing the narrating? He’s also said that he’s composed an original score of 4+ hours of music to accompany it.

I can't believe Thursday, the band who wrote War All The Time, has gotten political.

Truly, of all the days in American history, this is one of them.

Yeah they need to screenshot the dweebs that were offended of them getting “political” lol

Imagine it's 2006 and you're listening to a city by the light divided for the first time and you think it's a step down or not A mind-blowingly amazing album by all metrics. Couldn't be me :nails:

  10. It was my brother as well

  11. I wore the demos OUT and then stupidly didn’t like the way the actual record sounded for years.

    You are all testing me!!

It is a musical travesty that these guys are playing the same two albums over and over and over again when they got better with every release. Even though the City is always my favorite. Their evolution as a band and their growth was immaculate but unappreciated

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

    No Dev production is immaculate

I didn't get all the way through No Dev on my drive but first few songs def sounded great. I need to revisit it more often. I just have to be in the right vibe to do a discog run, and a beautiful fall drive along the shoreline was definitely it.

  19. Love the vocal production on No Devotion, adds a shoegazey vibe to their sound and Geoff suddenly sounds like he's Mew's singer at times

  20. Honestly love how all three of those final records sound. Production fits the songwriting and vibe of each record.

Yeah pretty perfect discography. I def was one of the people that didn’t love them as much after WATT, but I kept up with them and liked songs here or there. I’ve come around on their whole discography and don’t really think they have a bad record, though obviously think some are better than others.

I agree that it is sad that they feel the need to play the same songs over and over again when I feel like their aesthetic and songwriting I feel was so ripe for a big critical reap-recitation ala deftones. This band has really been carrying the flag for “real” screamo for years and incorporating so many influences that a lot of the other bands in the scene would be to afraid to copy.

common existence and no dev are my fav thursday albums so i echo that i wish they showed more love for that stuff live. common existence i get since they were in a pretty tense spot when they made it but no dev iirc they love

Common Existence is a great late fall/early winter album (also any time of year album). Sometimes I think it's my favorite Thursday record. It needs much more love.

this band in general hits me really hard in the winter, idk what it is. something about their clean tones have always given like, standing outside on a snowy street energy to me lmao

city is the exception, summer album through and through for me (except autumn leaves i guess lmao)
