Personally I had completely given up on any new music from them, still happy we got some great singles. I have a feeling there will be more singles down the road if nothing else.
It's not surprising they don't have the same pull that MCR and TBS do. Thursday was never about hooks or hit singles. Definitely more of a band that inspired other bands to do bigger things. I think they're okay with that. Their style of music was always better suited to sweaty basements and tiny venues anyway.
velocity and counting got a lot of publicity though. And other side of the crash and telegraph are massive, catchy songs. The album split fans but to me that’s always been bc half of it are these massive poppier rock tracks and the other half are moodier and subdued, but show attendance is usually driven by big singles (of which Thursday had a solid amount!) and casuals, not by how hardcore fans assess album cohesiveness. Idk, even I drifted a bit from the band during that era for the latter reason but to my earlier point, it just doesn’t feel like their trajectory and success has matched their perceived popularity. TLDr it just drives me nuts that people pay $50 to see a much heavier/less accessible band like underoath play literally 4 songs, or paid that to see a *really* inaccessible band like every time I die, but won’t pay $30 to see Thursday play much more accessible ones lol.
I've seen Thursday headline three times and as an opener three times and Geoff solo twice. I don't think I'd say this about another band ever, but I almost prefer them as an opener. I only say that because their headlining sets aren't that long anyway. I think every time I've seen them headline, they really only play 13 or 14 songs. Whereas when I see them opening, they're still playing 10/11 songs and there is a bigger crowd with more energy. All three times I've seen them headline have been to either half-rooms or super small venues (and even those didn't sell out). I'll be seeing them open for Silverstein in November and I'm pretty pumped at that pairing.
On the WATT shows when Rival Schools opened they had a packed show. However it was a smaller venue compared to their recent shows

I believe he joined the band at one point to do vocals yeah, didn't realize it was still happening (or at least, that this billboard appears to imply that it is)
yes geoff did vocals for Ink and Dagger during their first reunion back in 2010. he also mentioned on a podcast that being in the band put him in a negative headspace and got heavily into drugs during that time so hopefully its a much better situation this time around (if he's involved).
Yeah it is very possible he's not involved in that capacity, maybe he produced whatever's coming or that he's just posting the billboard because he's stoked about new Ink & Dagger
