I like it but there’s something about it that isn’t really fully grabbing me yet. The production is a little weird
Annnnd one more listen and I’m hooked, still not sold on that mid range guitar tone but the song itself is awesome
Like it a lot on first listen on car speakers excited to replay. Definitely wasn’t expecting the back half of the song to go where it went
I listened back to the Thursday/Envy split the other day and it rules so hard. they didn't need to go as hard as they did on As He Climbed the Dark Mountain and those instrumental songs are fucking good
"As He Climbed the Dark Mountain" is so underrated, one of my favorite Thursday songs. Common Existence as a whole is very underrated and, on some days, my favorite of theirs. Or at least the one I reach for most.
From that split, An Absurd And Unrealistic Dream Of Peace is the one for me. Love how the drums during the intro sound like Tucker was inspired by At The Drive In’s Cosmonaut, love the bass chords on the chorus, love Geoff’s performance, love when they let the guitars ring at the end, just everything about it is perfect.
Not trying to over-hype this song but it might be a Top 5 favorite Thursday song for me. It's powerful, poignant, and dynamic. Playing the hell out of it. Both songs have been great (please, please just give us one last album).
yeah how dare people be excited about stuff, smh that Thursday/Envy split really was peak, I always love seeing some appreciation for it
