i don’t think it’s a direction they’d go but it wouldn’t be a big surprise if they did a relatively underproduced DIY record much like Geoff did his solo EPs. A guy can hope!
If they were going to make a new record, I have a feeling they'd enlist their touring bassist Stu to produce it. He's done the last No Devotion album as well.
My hope is if they ever come back to write and record new music, they wouldn’t be doing it for old fans—or new fans—or fans at all. They’d “stay true” to whatever it is they want to create. Thursday can be anything they want it to be… and it seems they just want it to be one thing. It’s just bizarre to me that their current career revolves entirely around appeasing old fans and leaning into nostalgia, especially when it seemed like their entire previous philosophy was to ignore the zeitgeist and forge your own path.
Gonna guess one of those paths makes them some money and the other doesn’t make much. Not saying that’s a good thing, but that’s probably the reality of the situation.
Fantastic show! They were so good. Closed with: Cross Out The Eyes Beyond The Visible Spectrum Understanding in a Car Crash
Just got out from seeing them. They sound absolutely fucking incredible but I think Geoff is somehow singing less actual words than ever before nowadays lol Also only got a 2 song encore for some reason but I (perhaps stupidly) wasn’t expecting jet black new year so I’m good with it, ha
Not seeing many live videos of them before and my first time seeing them two weeks ago it’s definitely interesting how good he is at that low scream/growl he does on recording. He’s perfected that where I know what parts he’s singing but it came across way more hushed
Also I didn’t post it at the time but he absolutely killed the This Song Brought ….it was incredible. He hit some great notes towards the end and it was very cool to see that song in person
This is one of the CDs I have in the car rn, I threw it on the other day and it sure does still bang extremely hard
Velocity Records retweeted this for...some reason. I'm thinking either 1.) Nothing 2.) New merch 3.) Signals Live Performance getting physical release They did some angel wing related merch in the last few years like a pretty neat poster I wish I had gotten.
Yeah not getting my hopes up. Though it’s crazy it’s coming up on 18 years of ACBTLD and 13 years of ND…time flies
Of all the emo bands to do reunions, they are one of the few I would trust to make a late career record up to par with the rest of their catalog. It’s a damn shame
