I've skipped the last few because I've seen them tour this so many times now but I may go again now just cause they're one of my faves and clearly this is the only way I'm gonna see them! I have made peace with that
This has become tedious as fuck in my opinion. I see zero appeal in seeing the same band play the same albums again and again and again and again
I've skipped all the Full Collapse tours but I'm going to this one, even though I also wish they'd do more from the later records.
Hard to fault them for trying to make money but it's pretty stale at this point. I do have to laugh at the IG comments of people going "OMG holy shit" like they haven't done this a half dozen times over the last decade.
I see Thursday and a band like Motion City Soundtrack in similar situations. The vast majority of people aren't going to come out to hear later period materials, so there's no sense in losing money by touring without doing an album-focused set. But they both trot out the album tours so often at this point that it's like ... we've already seen this. The bills aren't going to pay themselves. I feel for these acts having to do forced nostalgia ad nauseam.
They don’t have to do anything tbh. It’s a conscious choice. One that I simultaneously understand and also find the complete opposite of what I want from the band. Which is fine but you won’t catch me dropping money to see them anytime soon, plenty of other bands touring on material that actually interests me. I guess enough people feel differently about it than me though to make it worth their while so it is what it is I just think it kinda sucks
The unfortunate truth is that these shows aren't for those of us who post on this site, they are for the more general population of music fans who aren't hardcore fans.
I will be going to this show because one of my good friends is moving in July and wants to go. They also rarely come to Sac so I’m definitely going. Do I wish this was a No Dev tour? Hell yes but oh well
Yep, I know I’m weird and want a full No Devo set because I need to hear Turnpike Divides one more time.
Honestly I feel like A City tour wouldn't do too bad? The singles may not be as iconic but they had some that still had rotation on Fuse and MTV2
Tickets acquired. Have not seen them play WATT yet, and also Keith's new band's first show in Buffalo was too much to pass up. But yes, I also want more No Devo and ACBTLD songs damn it.
Just putting out there that I love Common Existence and it would be pretty badass if You Were The Cancer got played.
yeah I’ll tell you what it’s gonna be jet black new year understanding turnpike divides other side of the crash
Idk about that one, full album shows are almost by design for more than just casual fans, maybe not the super hardcore but these aren’t people who only know a handful of singles showing out for these shows
hey if we get one new deep cut in rotation every tour by the end of the decade they’ll have done a full album playthrough of ACBTLD if you cobble all the sets together
That’s optimistic lol It’ll be jet black and understanding for sure, but if anything else it’ll be cross out the eyes and either autobiography or Paris. That said, as much as I’ll roll my eyes during the sets I will always see my favorites when they come close to me. And I haven’t seen WATT yet so I’m stoked for this. Finally saw em play steps ascending on the last tour, now need to see asleep in the chapel.
Steps ascending and asleep in the chapel were white whales for so long I will certainly take another opportunity to see them both. also holding out hope for autumn leaves
