Aside from the obvious (autumn leaves revisited/you were the cancer) gimmie Streaks in the Sky and Love has led us astray
Well no Autumn Leaves tonight! There was nothing outside of Full Collapse or War All The Time played lol but twas fun regardless, they always put on a good show
I’m just glad they played Turnpike Divides once for me post reunion, baffling that that’s not an every night song like Understanding or War
It was pretty common at one point in their sets (I think?) but has been neglected now for a while. Easily one of their top 5 songs.
Arc lamps is such a great little gem in their discography. Would also love a little extended jam sesh of that
I wouldn’t say it’s been neglected at all. They’ve been rotating it in and out of their encore on the FC tours this year and did so for the FC/WATT tour back in 2019 as well. They also played it back on their spring 2017 tour. It’s not a live staple, but it’s far from neglected, especially considering the rest of that album. At this point, Turnpike Divides and Fast to the End are the only songs on ND that I’d expect to see live.
So i'm not a huge Thursday fan but I'm curious what ya'll think - how long will they be able to mine nostalgia and keep touring like this? I see more bands come back and just tour the old shit that sells and I'm wondering how long that can be sustainable.
Beats me. I also wonder if they decided to tour FC heavily this year after not being able to do shows for two years aside from those livestreams just so they can recoup some money they certainly lost out on for two years Who knows
Geoff did make a point to note during my show last night that it was the last night of the tour so maybe they'll rest FC for at least a bit? And probably move onto WATT next year lol From ND I've seen Turnpike Divides, Fast to the End, and No Answers live. I was especially happy to see No Answers.
Until 2024 I guess? I assume they're going to celebrate WATT's 20th anniversary throughout 2023. What happens afterwards I'm curious about because there's no way ACBTLD is going to get the same treatment a couple years later.
Since I've now see Autumn Leaves my next unrealistic bucket list Thursday song is Panic on the Streets of Healthcare City. Also, As He Climbed the Dark Mountain
reminds me we also need voices on a string dark mountain and last call round out my top 3 on CE after subway
This is probably common knowledge but I just found this out at the FC show a few weeks ago. Wind Up originally wasn’t supposed to be on the album and the band hates the song. FC was originally supposed to just be 10 songs but the band was told by the label they needed to add one more and Wind Up was an old song they recorded and just threw it on the record because they didn’t want to write/record a new song. When it was time to play Wind Up Geoff said “now we have to play a song that none of us like” Again, probably common knowledge so please laugh at me for just finding this out.
That’s interesting because, at my show, Geoff told the same story and added that the guys in Underoath told them they shouldn’t feel so negatively about the song anymore and Geoff said “And they were right because this song slaps.” I guess they go back and forth on it lol
He did mention that Underoath liked it which gave them confidence to play it. But I definitely recall him saying none of the Thursday guys like(d) it.
I looked up "Wind Up" on YouTube to remember how it goes. I always loved that song, personally. On the side where it has suggested/related videos, I saw that there was a demo version of the song uploaded by the band. And when I hit play, I was like "wow their demo sounds completely different from the album version!" .... haha
