I went and found it, solid set - Thursday Setlist at Pop's, Sauget Setlist also reminded me that the first time I saw Thursday was in October of 2002.... I'm old. (Thursday with Cursive, From Autumn to Ashes and Engine Down)
Omg My stepmom found an old potato quality pic of my 17th birthday cake where my dad made the dove out of a fruit roll up. They'd gotten me tickets for my bday so it was on theme
Why is every vinyl re-press just a gross cash grab now? I just want a regular copy of the original album.
A group of Ukrainian bands got together to cover War All The Time (they also made some adjustments to the lyrics)
listening to No Devolucion for the first time, this is so sick. I was into Full Collapse and War All The Time when I was younger but am going through a few of their other albums before I see them next week with MCR.
It’s so awesome to hear that it’s your first time listening to that album. It’s definitely an all-timer for me. So many incredible songs on that one: Fast to the End, No Answers, A Darker Forest, Sparks Against the Sun, Magnets Caught in a Metal Heart, Turnpike Divides, Stay True… I just love that album a ton. Love the dark atmosphere to it and how they can write some gorgeous soundscapes and go heavy at the turn of a heel. Marvelous stuff.
It took me years to appreciate it. I didn't like it when it came out but eventually came around to it probably 4 or 5 years later.
Saw the band last night in Buffalo. They sounded as good as ever, sold out venue, and Geoff seemed stoked to be playing but it was a short set. Got through Full Collapse (wasn’t sure if they were actually playing it in full or not), did a 2 song encore, and show’s over by 9:30. I liked being home early but pretty disappointing in that regard for a show that after fees cost $50.
I wonder if they would sell less tickets if they did a wider set list? Surely there are many Thursday fans that want to hear more than those 10 songs? Especially now that there has been many opportunities to do so. Streaming has made it so easy to dive into a band's full catalog.
ive complained enough on other threads about fans wanting to only hear old stuff but I can’t imagine less people would buy tix if we replaced Wind Up with Last Call. Not like they’d know before the show how much of full collapse they’re playing anyway. *shrug*
Anyone gonna drop $110 on a re-press of FC? The book is nice but...jeez https://craftrecordings.com/collections/thursday
Oh boy can't wait to listen to FC (gets up to swap/flip records every 2-3 songs) I'm mean sure it's a collector's piece but make the book 12"-13" and sell it for $50-$60 with 1 LP like touche amore did with their deluxe edition of Lament (with a much larger book I might add...) I'd like to be nice but splitting it across 3 LPs is nothing but a cash grab.
I don't understand the appeal of double or triple LPs. Maybe sometimes albums have to be double LPs if they are quite long, right? But for normal length albums, you just pay more for inconvenience?
2xLPs can help improve the quality of the audio as manufacturers aren’t trying to shove so many songs onto two sides of a single LP
I love FC but at this point I rarely ever listen to it and have no interest in seeing it live any more
Sometimes I think I’m over FC but god damn I saw them play it the other night and it was so fucking good haha would love a regular non 3lp repress
