Geoff doesn't really like that song much either Source: Rank Your Records: Thursday's Geoff Rickly Explains Why 'Full Collapse' Is the Band's Best Record
thats the only song on ACBTD I dont like, I skip it every time. I just find it straight forward and boring for Thursday.
My only issue with acbtld at the time was the vocals seemed to be drowned out. It made sense to me - i knew Geoff was self-conscious about his voice. Even listening to it now, it feels like the vocal dial could have turned up like 1-2 clicks. No??? Just me? Alright, peace.
Did a run-through of the discography today, and here's my half-assed album ranking. Every album is good for different reasons. WATT captures the post-9/11 existential dread better than any other album of the era. FC>WATT>ACBTLD>ND>CE>Waiting Edit: There, I added Waiting. "This Side of Brightness" is still a jam, though.
ND > ACB > CE > WATT > FC I love Full Collapse and recognize its influence but it's undoubtedly their weakest in my eyes.
so fucking true. i'm even a little young to fully relate (was 9 when 9/11 happened) but i've always thought that as well.
I totally get why Waiting is at the back of everyone's list, and it's not one I revisit frequently, but that album is special in its own way. Also, it looks like it's not on Spotify... wonder why.
WATT was the first Thursday song I ever heard so naturally the record roped me in. I’ve always felt a secret shame for not really loving FC lol.
Waiting isn’t on streaming because it was owned by Collect which went under. Same with No Devotions music. I’m sure they’ll be back up soon now that they’re on Velocity.
Seeing Thursday right around the time that FC was about to drop at a bar in PA with Breaking Pangeaea, This Day Forward and Piebald totally changed the trajectory of the music that I listened to. So that one holds a special place in my heart, even if WATT perfected their sound
It seems odd now, but I couldn't listen to that album for years because it reminded me of how awful everything was around that time.
