Shoutout to The Otherside Of The Crash being the optimum point between urgent and ambient Thursday and I'm drunk
You know what, when it was first released I was down on it, like most FC/WATT fans, but 12 years later and I'm finally warming to it being their best album.
its the one that got me into them so its always been my favorite but, being this far removed from their run, i think it registers as sort of a best of thursday album, hitting on everything they did throughout their career throughout its runtime.
I’ve never participated in a crowd funded album, but if they chose this option, I’d crowdsource the shit out of it.
Maybe not hot take: Thursday used to be my favorite band, but I'm slightly disappointed in their various 'returns' over the past few years. They've turned themselves into a nostalgia act.
eh its only been one return that started about two years ago. thats why they're done after this year unless new music comes. but if they dont make new music i dont think theres a problem with them coming back and playing shows to people who truly missed them for a couple years. we know now they wont come back unless new music is involved, even if its far far down the road.
I think Geoff is worried about it not being received well as I’ve seen him discuss “reunion albums” being disappointing. But you know what, even if it somehow was bad (yea right) id still take it in a heartbeat lol.
I'm so happy they're playing some shows. I missed their final tour and I hated myself over that fact for years. I've seen them several times since they reunited and each show has been an absolute blast.
the other thing is that they have old songs too. like there's that fuse interview from like 2013 where Geoff said they'd written some songs after no Dev but hadn't had a chance to do anything with them since they broke up...unless they ended up as UN stuff again
@jeremyxbolm if you're reading this please convince Thursday to make another album and tour together some more thanks it's greatly appreciated. You also should sing a song with the band like Tim Kasher did but... more.
I think their statement at the end of last year made it very clearly that they were weary about being a nostalgia project and because of that, this will be it for them, unless they have anything new to say. I really hope that they've had enough fun over the last couple years a that there will be some new Thursday before long. My only concern is everyone no doubt habing other jobs/family that it makes commitment to the band difficult.
don't get me wrong, I saw them on their most recent big tour and it was awesome. I'd see them again in a heartbeat. I guess I just don't like how they've handled their rollout? Lots of social media teasing for... a couple tour dates? I still love Thursday. I wouldn't be upset if they just came back every couple years to play some shows. They hold a special place in my heart.
I had a dream last night that I was seeing Thursday on Friday and then I woke up and everything was blehhhh On the plus side, I have my airbnb booked for Asbury Park (and NYC!). Just need to get onto booking those flights. £££s adding up but worth it.
