Yeah I saw them on that tour and lots of ppl were just there for touche. I was in the under 21 section cause it was emptier and there was a lot of "meh Thursday" talk. When I saw them in 2009 everyone left after fall of Troy and I was hoping it was cause it was a hometown show for FOT but it seems like a recurring issue. Before that I don't recall their shows being like that. Idk if it's them losing a lot of casual fans since they don't have their same sound anymore or what? Which is a shame because imo they have one of the most impressive progressions and growth of a band.
I'll be solo in Worcester tonight. I agree their set has definitely gotten a bit stale, but it will still be nice to see them for the last time in who knows how long. Also, PUP.
There might not be a better 2-track run in their discography than “Love Has Led Us Astray” and “You Were The Cancer”.
they only played that once until the reunion, now it's a set staple. which is good because that's their best song maybe
Request for anyone going tonight, would you please take a picture of the merch table and upload it here? Trying to weigh out a budget for tomorrow's show. Thank you!
Ugh I’ve never really taken to YWTC like everyone else, i just really like the ending. Subway funeral and love has led us astray, however, now those i adore.
There are a lot of lovely 2-track runs but the best has to be steps ascending into WATT. My honorable mentions: Magnets/empty glass Last call/dark mountain Subway/astray Cross out/Paris ACBTLD is one i think most needs to be listened to in full so i had trouble parsing out a favorite 2 track run
Geoff liked my tweet saying all I want the new year is Thursday headline shows in the UK/EU. This is encouraging as I've been having irrational fears that they're only going to play festivals.
Yeah, I always forget how much of a minority we are on Chorus when it comes to Thursday. I've talked to a lot of people that really only care about FC/WATT and have no interest in what they put out after that. It's such a bummer, because like you said they progressed so much on each album and it bums me out people didn't take to it.
I mean the average age of a Thursday fan is now approaching the 35+ range, we don't get out to shows much...
eh I consider myself around for Thursday's peak and I'm 25. And "older" people def still go to shows. My dad is 45 and still goes to lots of metal shows and I'm sure there are many others there his age. For whatever reason ppl don't wanna show for Thursday but idk if I completely buy that as the reason. I do think there is a lack of young passionate fans which may be cause they haven't released material in a while, but I'd wager a lot of it also being that sort of backlash they got for not remaking full collapse and war all the time for every record and losing fans along the way
I’m pretty shocked that tonight’s show isn’t sold out. I get used to seeing them at things like this last year and the RF aftershow which was insane, so when I saw the Norva show earlier this year and it was pretty empty it blew me away. Hopefully the crowd excitement makes up for it like it usually does. Hope to meet some of you tonight! Really hoping for Steps Ascending since I missed that NY show this summer. Other than that I’m pretty open to whatever they choose.
As someone who is a super passionate Thursday fan I find this attitude hard to understand but I believe it is probably true because people are generally awful
