Glass Boys is incredible

the best. i can only imagine how Thursday fans reacted to that song in 2006. i can imagine it was a lot of confusion lol

 

That whole album was confusing to me in 2006.

 

I absolutely loved the change in style when it was released.

 

yeah i def loved it right away when it was released. 4ever my fave album of theirs. I wasn't super active online at the time besides like LJ and casually AP, so it was interesting years later to see how that era was received so divisively

 

I remember that song being really well received when it was first released. Counting 5-4-3-2-1, less so.

 

i think the highest points on David Comes to Life are better than the highest points on Glass Boys, but Glass Boys holds my attention better. the middle section of DCTL can lose me at times. the lows are lower on David Comes To Life. Glass Boys is more consistent.

 

Also 100 pages guys. I love how this thread is always busy

Running From The Rain is my favorite Thursday song, depending on the day

 

This is an odd memory but I got into this band super late, 2014 to be exact. We were all in the AP Hotelier thread just babbling about scene favorites, I ofc threw out Motion City Soundtrack (RIP), and @sophos34 mentioned this band called "Thursday" and I was like yo Jake where should I start with that band I always hear you talking about them and he hits me with a "well you handsome well endowed musical genius with great hair, I would suggest you start with Full Collapse". Downloaded it off iTunes and the rest is history.

I may or may not be misremembering certain parts of that story but I think Jake will testify that its 100% true

Crazy, for me that was definitely one of the most instant songs off of ACBTLD

I can't tell you what about it had me cool on it except that it seemed like I liked the vocals and vocal melody less than the music for a while

 

Took me a long time to appreciate city in its entirety, but god damn do I get chills hearing "there is blood on the tracks toniiiiight"

 

I also really really loved telegraph avenue kiss (that chorus tho) and would be anticipating it all through running from the rain
