Netflix was also only a distributor of the movie. The Russos owned the film rights themselves. So they did have 100% freedom in that shitshow.
McFeely and Markus also turned in bad screenplays for The Gray Man and Electric State. Pretty amazed that the entire team just fell flat once they stopped working on Marvel films.
The only “good” thing to come from pretending Marvel is more elevated than it is, is that stupid ad they dropped with the A24 references. Which, yes, was stupid, but also… lol.
Yeah, it’s not really news. Like I said, I posted it for the sake of discussion, like, idk, speculation as to what Feige actually meant. I didn’t post it for the last 2 pages of comments.
I don’t think anyone here is pretending Marvel is “elevated” whatever that word even means in this context lol I think most, if not all, just want to see good movies with characters we like. Whatever form that takes, we’re game
I’m only stating that the arguments I’m seeing are not reflective of my original post. If you guys want to post about A24, Marvel being “elevated,” or whatever….go ahead. Idc
There are many ways to read that other than “marvel is elevated” Not everything has to be pretentious
In what way It seems to me that people were overreacting and choosing to read my comment in a different tone simply because of the words “not a superhero movie.” The comment itself is pretty neutral. I wasn’t acting as if Feige was saving the film.
It really is best to drop it, but. First, just for good measure, I do wanna ask… …what does this actually mean to you?
The first thing that came to my mind was easing on some of the MCU tropes that have been prevalent over the last few years. Make it feel a little less generic or formulaic compared to the rest of phases 4 and 5. Plenty of older MCU films were rewatchable and not treated by the general audience as just “superhero films” but as films that were about superheroes. I think Feige wants to get that jazz back into the franchise.
I enjoyed the A24-like ads. I’ll allow for multi-billion-dollar movie companies to have fun sometimes.
