“Marvel film” is a blanket term. ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Love and Thunder’ are polar opposites, but they’re both “Marvel films.” One can notice the differences between the two without attempting to say Iron Man is something it’s not. I think Feige’s hopes with Thunderbolts float around that concept.
Just seems silly to be like “Feige is involved with this he wants it to be a Good Movie” when uh what has Kevin Feige directed like why is that a plus lol
people don’t say the same with kathleen kennedy in star wars or barbara broccoli in james bond. and james gunn isn’t comparable since he is actually the director of the big properties. it’s a bit strange.
I didn’t make up the reports. I’m just sharing them here. I also never said the two are directly tied. The report of Feige stepping away from the shows to focus more on the films was before Thunderbolts entered production. It was around the time Iger came back, which is why I think it was a call from Iger.
I'm going to go on record as also being a little uncertain why this particular thing is something to get excited over. I get that Feige is probably hands on in the process but I also don't know what that means in practice or how much that in particular has affected any of the MCU projects, and I kind of think Feige’s "mythos" has been elevated to weird levels solely because of the MCU's success. I also think the idea of anyone seeing making a film as a "challenge" is a cause for concern. Just make a fucking film! No one is going to care if you're trying to tick a box to "own the critics". That all said, I am excited for this film because I think it's a cool concept and I like the cast and characters. I'm going to have a fun time at the movies.
he is a suit that runs a studio. what are we talking about here. no one says this about whoever the random person that runs A24 is.
Feige also pushed for Eternals to keep its November release because he thought it would be an Oscar nominated film. We all know how that turned out. I’m not trying here to convince anyone Feige’s thoughts are showing how good or different this film is. I’m just sharing what I’ve heard as it’s relevant to the film this exact thread is for.
Yeah, what are you talking about here. Feige produces every film released by the studio. The owner(s) of A24 do not.
I hope this is fun cause MCU has sucked for a while but this 100% looks like a marvel movie. This is like when they said the winter soldier is like the parallax view.
I post one “I heard this” and automatically get “but actually it’s still a marvel movie” posts immediately echoing like the horn of Gondor lmao I’m the weirdo, sure
Not to get on your case justin, but I don't think every report is newsworthy. Some of it is just faff.
I mean, I did literally start that post with “take this with a grain of salt” I posted it for the sake of discussion. Not to have the 80th lecture on why capeshit is _____
I kind of disagree. Look at what the Russo brothers did with Electric State. Assuming they had more freedom to make that movie the way they wanted vs under Feige watch with Avenger movies.
There is an overlap with when the movies’ diminishing returns began and when the focus on Disney+ began, so idk, maybe Feige is a factor in that? Feels a bit too much like hagiography to me, but who knows. Directors have turned down Marvel Studios or complained about their experience there, and they famously get action scenes worked on before they have directors, so idk! But also, that just feels like another point towards viewing the Marvel Cinematic Universe more as a single kind of thing, even if that thing can alternate superficially between spaceships and spies or whatever. (Also funny to make a big deal of Feige supposedly getting more active again, though, when their big Avengers movies are now coproductions between Marvel Studios and AGBO.)
Flo Pugh sure had fun stepping off that big ass building, and I love that for her. But, as someone who doesn’t love heights, I cannot relate, lol.
idk why you would assume based on everything we have heard about them as a studio that netflix would be granting more freedom lol. i think its easier to just assume the russos are hacks who do a bad job when they make original stories bc they lack creativity vs. adapting source material with nearly a century of backstory.
also i like a fair amount of superhero movies lol. i am actively excited for this very movie. weird to position diminishing feige's importance as a creative as an anti-superhero movie thing.
