Thunderbolts* (Jake Schreier, May 2, 2025) Movie

Well, we know for sure Walker and Yelena are a part of this. Who else we thinkin'? Zemo? Abomination?

I swear to God, if this movie doesn't introduce Moonstone and Songbird, what are we even fucking doing?

Ain't gonna lie, I had to look close up at that picture to make sure that person on the left was Louis-Dreyfus and not confirmation of Melinda May. It's hard to tell with the shades, okay?

Anyway, as I said in the other thread, excited for more Ghost, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster.

 

Odd not to have Zemo, I could have sworn that his presence/arc in F&WS was setting this up. But a great cast regardless (guessing there's a whole US vs Russia Cold War thing going on).

 

I still feel like having Zemo on a team of superheroes would not fit his MO for the MCU, even though he seemed relatively amicable to Sam and forgave Bucky in the end, so I dunno.

Maybe there's still an opportunity for him to be an informant (or even the villain). Or maybe he's a secret member.

 

I realised after I posted he might well make an appearance, just not be on the team. I just remember reading he was quite an important member (team leader?) in the comics, but I could be mis-remembering.

 

No, you're right. The original Thunderbolts were made up of Moonstone, Goliath, Screaming Mimi, Beetle, and Fixer, with Zemo as the leader. It was a long con to make people think they were heroes and then turn the tables at some point down the road.

For some like Moonstone and Fixer, the temp heel-face turn didn't take, but for others like Mimi and Beetle, they grew too fond of their new heroism as Songbird and Mach-V respectively, and stayed good.

It's amusing to me that they're going to adapt the team but have none of the original members.

I'm still looking forward to this, just because I like the idea of spending time with characters that barely had any development in previous films like Ghost and Taskmaster. Hell, the latter wasn't even in control of her actions in Black Widow, so we're literally meeting her as a person for the first time.
