I want more Thrice

 

Maybe I'm the only one, but I think Salt and Shadow is as close to a Water track you can get. I also think it's the strongest individual song on TBEITBN, but it didn't quite fit with the rest of the record.

As for their next record, as long as it's not heavier and a bit more progressive (at least more experimental, because TBEITBN was really straightforward), I will be satisfied!

So realistically they start recording next month(I can’t remember when the tour ends), and we’ll probably get an album in July/August????

 

Yeah, Salt and Shadow definitely would have fit on the Water EP. Might be my favorite song from TBEITBN, although I'm biased because Water is my favorite thing they've ever done.

 

Could even be May. They recorded tbeitbn in Jan 2016, and was out in May.

 

I still think these guys would crush a full-on post rock EP in the style of Caspian or Pelican.

 

Recording, Mixing, and Mastering time table might be different now that they're on Epitaph.

I think it'd be interesting in a non album year if they rerecorded some older songs, and put a new spin on them.

 

I’ve thought about this for years. Include their reworked versions of cold cash, so strange, and electric version of a song for MM. A fan question on the lead singer syndrome actually posed this question to Dustin when he was on the podcast.

 

I would want nothing more

 

Just play a secret show and cover all Caspian songs until they start touring again

Hell, with the heavier part of Night Diving, they could probably pull off a post-metal thing.

 

I've always likened "Salt and Shadow" to "Silver Wings" given the synth and falsetto. Thus, I've viewed it as an "Air" track, especially when you consider the reverb-y arpeggios.

And when Palmquist suggested they revisit their previous catalog of sounds, there's no doubt in my mind that "Silver Wings" had something to do with the development of "Salt and Shadow."

We could call it a hybrid of Air and Water since it has elements of both, but it's more Air than not in my opinion.

Saw em for the 3rd time last night. Not sure it's possible to be a tighter live band than they are. Not a single note was missed.

 

Aw man, I just realized we didn’t get to see Red Telephone last night.

That was gonna be the highlight of the tour for me. I wonder what the heck happened? I was under the impression that they were gonna play it the whole tour?

 

idk, I kinda prefer Yellow Belly though so that was nice lol

 

But we have never had the chance to see Red Telephone before. They have played Yellow Belly a lot since M/m was released. And they announced they were playing it on this tour. As far I can tell, we are the only date who didn’t get it.

I’m retroactively bummed now. :/
