My top 5 is Hurricane, Stay With Me, The Window, Long Defeat, Black Honey. Only skippable song on there is Wake Up.
Probably grew on me the most after my hype for The Long Defeat died down. They performed it on their tour Sept 2016, and I was in the bathroom. I could hear the bass ripping, and I was pissed. Literally.
yeah I mean The Long Defeat is definitely the crowning achievement of that album, like it's not even worth discussing lol
I think people underestimate how good Nickelback is, albeit I'm not a huge fan of their stylings, which is my main complaint about the song Stay With Me. It's not bad, just not to my liking.
I think the verses save it, nickleback wouldn't do something that pretty, and definitely wouldn't use a I iii progression the way thrice does on that song.. The will you stay with me part.. is more kings of leon than nickleback IMO... its my least favorite of the album but I still like the song.. and the WE GOTTA WAKE UP, also an album low but even on those songs with generic parts I think they still do some things creatively that set them apart.
I really wish I liked Wake Up more, because there's something about that song that keeps me coming back to it. The main riff in the intro/verses is so dope.
thats sort of my point, even within these generic songs there are cool aspects that make them stick out. I think that was important for me sticking with the album long term. It's not my favorite thrice record and it may be my least favorite since the artist in the ambulance but I still really like it.
I like Wake Up. The chorus is weak and RATM did "Wake Up" a whole lot better, but some of the verses and all of the instrumentals are solid.
Nooooooooooooooooooo I said this I think in the bracket thread, but no way is it a bad song. The song itself is great and everyone loved it out the gate. Just because its become overplayed doesn't change anything about the song. Bingo. I don't see that, even as a Nickelback fan.
