The Window is one of the best on this album. I hope they keep it around in their sets after this album cycle
Fire is my favorite on TAI by a long shot. Water and Air both have really good stuff on them and are enjoyable. Earth isn't really my cup of tea haha.
I would be so happy if they did their next full length in the style of Fire. Imagine a new Thrice album in the vain of Firebreather, Messenger and Burn the Fleet The Earth EP is my second favorite from TAI but I feel like that influence is all over Beggars, so I'd be fine with not having that style in another album.
Heavier Thrice has always been my go to sound for them. An album in the vein of the Fire EP would be right up my alley! I hope they put at least some heavier stuff on their next album. It's part of what made TBEITBN such a nice return to form for me.
I wanted a little heavier and with the comments Ed made about wanting more heavier for their comeback album, I'm really hoping he gets his way with the new one Their first show back they opened with Earth Will Shake, Paper Tigers and Arsonist right? I think they still have the fire (pun intended) inside them to do some more heavier tracks.
For whatever reason, I've never heard Sea Change before. It's an okay song, but I see why it was left off of TBEITBN.
I think Earth should have sounded more like Beggars. As is, it feels really underdeveloped imo. Still good though, and I love how it sounds, Teppei nailed the production on the whole thing
It would have fit really well in between The Window and Long Defeat, replacing whatever song is in that slot
Sea Change > Wake Up for sure. I get what they were trying to do with it, but still my least favorite.
I haven’t complained about Wake Up in awhile. Lol Boy does that song suck ass. I can’t believe it made the record. Had to delete it off my iTunes. If only I could remove it from my vinyl.
it's mainly the lyrics though, the instrumental itself definitely has potential, esp. the guitar tones are ace.
Lyrics and vocals are def the low point. Sounds like a parody of Dustin. But, I also think they instrumentals are a bit too straight forward. Like teppei forgot to write his part. And Eddie and Riley are just mashing to the exact same beat. I fear this is something I will never come around on
then don't. we don't all have to pretend that Everywhere is the comeback record this band deserved and not just them trying their hardest to out-Foo Fighters the Foo Fighters. (It's not a bad record by any stretch of the imagination, but it's no Vheissu.)
For as much as I love TBEITBN, it does contain the first Thrice tracks I ever skip over. I can't say that about their other albums.
Yeah no offense but Wake Up, Blood, and Black Honey all deserve the skip. I really love how the album sounds but some songs just aren't good. It's a more fun and easy to listen to album than MM but it's probably their worst since AitA
I feel like Black Honey has kind of lost its luster, but only due to overplaying, do you guys actually think it's a Bad Song?
There’s not a single song I skip on their discography, except for their first album, which I pretty much ignore entirely. But as much as I enjoy TBEITBN, I’ve not loved it long term as much as I loved it initially. I think I might just need to give it a heavier rotation and warm back up to it, but I think some of the extra political nature of the lyrics as opposed to Dustin’s usual material is what has thrown me off of it and lessened it’s impact over time.
well that and how blunt his style is on some songs, like some deeply uninteresting lyrics. that said that album has some of my favorite guitar tones. so little gain so much crunch lol
