Long defeat closer was epic. Red telephone was a little underwhelming. The window is hands down my favorite song live in the set
Like i predicted, aside from Red Telephone and the AI suite, the set is nearly identical to the last tour, unfortunately. Thrice Setlist at City National Civic, San Jose
Red telephone being on the set list must be why it was randomly added to Spotify as a single yesterday.
I am into that setlist. Really hoping they keep Circles. That might be my favorite song. Also, I'm a fan of that Alchemy Index suite considering of the three times I've seen this band, my first time being their farewell tour, I have yet to see Firebreather, Open Water, and Come All You Weary.
100% agreed on the TAI suite. Open Water will be a first time live for me and the other chosen songs are IMO basically the singles of their respective elements (and are excellent live tunes). I dig the breadth of the set as well, with pretty much everything from IOS onward represented, but wish there were some more interesting picks outside of what they played on the RA/Deftones tour. I think they're repeating almost that entire set here.
If I'd never seen them before, the set would be great, but I'm pretty sure they played all of the songs in the AI suite when they toured on that album cycle, and the rest of the set is just a combination of the RA/Deftones set and the TBEITBN set.
Idk I’ve seen them four times now, and that’s the first time I’ve seen them play Circles(which was amazing btw), Broken Lungs, Open Water, and Blur.
Seriously guys the electronic drums/keyboard on Open Water last night sounded sooooo good. I would die for a Water only suite.
I wouldn’t mind them dropping everything pre Vheissu at this point. But nonetheless, Dustin sounded real good and they looked like they were enjoying it. San Jose Civic has incredible sound. Hope more bands go through there.
I wanted to argue the first point... but couldn't really articulate any reasoning against it. Deadbolt, Artist, and Silhouette are good fun, but they've been playing them for nearly 15 years. Wouldn't mind it if they gave some of the old hits a new life though, like Deadbolt's extended ending.
They just need to mix up the older songs more. Pull out something from the first 3-4 albums that they've never played, or haven't played in years.
They have such a large catalog now...I'm sure it is really hard. But I would love something like Vheissu - 3 TAI - 4 Beggars -4 MajorMinor - 1/2 TBEITN - 4/5 The alchemy Index is prob my favorite live. The bass tones in Fire are so good and the organ in water gets me.
I bought tickets to the wrong night for Philly... we have circa headlining I know that circles will be the track they cut
They both played the same amount of time on Friday. I'm not sure who closed Saturday in LA, but setlist.fm is showing an identical set to Friday's. I wouldn't be worried.
Apparently they confirmed a repress of The Alchemy Index at the show last night. 4x10” with new/updated artwork.
I do have a night two ticket. Still debating if I want to go to both nights or not. Waiting to see if they switch up their setlists a bit when they hit the same city twice. I'll get back to you!
Would need two, lol. if thrice keeps the setlist the same on nights they don’t headline I don’t really care.
No Stay With Me in the setlist makes me sad, but all the TBEITBN songs they are playing are in my favorites, so I would be just as sad to see one of them switched out for Stay With Me. I'd be fine with Black Honey being switched, but it's probably the least likely.
I'm mostly looking to attend both nights for Circa. I'm trying to see everything they've officially released and ever played live. They usually do a pretty good job at switching it up a bit when playing the same city on back to back nights
